Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Well, I've moved into the new place with less stuff ... but it's still a lot of stuff. I'm working in the office full time, so I haven't had time to do the amount of unpacking I'd like. I junked some old furniture (the dresser I painted myself in 1975), a wardrobe and so on. I've bought new rugs, a new bookcase, a wicker chest, a new upholstered chair and an armoire/wardrobe for my winter coats (will there BE a winter?) that needs a rod to hang them on ... I'm not having a lot of luck finding one, but I swear I will. I could use a new dresser (because I still have an unreasonable amount of clothes). But it will work out ... and I'd been saving for about 18 months, so I can buy new stuff (although there's a limit on how much I'm willing to spend). But this new apartment/working full time thing is a pain. This weekend - all three days! - will be largely devoted to unpacking and organizing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

There are so many people I want to respond to but I have been reading over a few days and not posting and I don't quite have the patientce to truly re-read and meara, but

I feel that!

That sounds awful, Katerina. I'm sorry. At some point it may make sense to stop trying to help.

Wow, Toddson, good for you for going through and dealing with all that stuff!

That sounds promising for M, askye. And fingers crossed for your mom's friend.

Also, oh no! The Rock, and his family are Covid positive.

They were sick and are recovering! Phew.

Good luck, Gud! You are clearly very skilled in the right stuff!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Wasa crackers, goat cheese and bluebarb jam are the best I can do for lunch today.

Our wings are not tired.

That lunch would work for me. I had chicken fajita soup that was really quite tasty.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Toddson - yeah I remember the unpacking-and-organizing phase of getting into the new apartment - at least your CD collection wasn't tromped flat by firefighters! I mostly handled it by saying "I will do ONE BOX and take a break," although I occasionally found myself inspired to start on the next box instead.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I treated myself to Popeyes for lunch today but it was disappointing, treat wise. I don't know if they've changed or I have but it's just not seeming as delicious as it used to. Alas. But maybe secretly a good thing, I dunno.

Anyway, lunch, I had some, so that's good.

Yes, I try to do at least one box in the evening, can manage more on weekends. I'm upset that they managed to break some things and stole some ... I haven't finished unpacking my jewelry, and I'm afraid they stole some rings (and I'd mainly be upset that they stole one - with a tiny diamond - that gets passed on to daughters on their 17th birthday); I can't wear them any more because my knuckles are swollen and my fingers got fat, but this was from a company with a five star rating.

Oh, Toddson, that's a shame. Those movers really betrayed your trust.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Toddson, Maria, and Cass - I am sorry. It's a lot to handle. I wish things were easier. A lot of ~ma to all of you.
