No family for either of us in Canada, either. Tempting, though, given we're 20 miles from the border and have crossed often for day trips. We can't do that now, of course. But as I say, we have no family anchor there, and I doubt they'd welcome us on our own merit.

If you told someone a decade ago that a President would be facing reelection with double-digit unemployment and 170,000 dead from a mishandled pandemic while he was working to destroy the Postal Service, they would probably think that they didn't have a chance at a second term. And yet it's starting to tighten and will very likely be a very close election.

I mean that's third leading cause of death territory and things aren't exactly getting better.

Oh my gosh. Very unexpected thunder and lightning here! Puppy was quite startled and so was I! But tried to reassure him its normal. And that we almost never get 99 degree days like this and it will be better tomorrow. Yuck!!

I'm really worried about Southern CA and the extreme and lasting heat -- people don't have AC there, a lot of them! Or, currently, jobs where there's AC to take refuge in, or the power is just O U T.

Well, my body decided I would be up early for my first day of work. Reallllll early.

I'll be honest, I'm getting all of our paperwork ready to move to Canada if necessary. M & Peanut are both fine, they're both Canadian citizens, it's just me that might have difficulties. But I finally got my passport back (after sending it in on March 1), so I've got that going for me.

I wish this were an option for me. One branch of my mother's family married into Canadianhood a couple generations back, but 6th cousin isn't a close enough relationship to help any of my immediate family.
