I edited an article with an author named Mako Mori, and it was so hard to not put a comment in saying "Tell me about the Jaegers. TELL ME ABOUT THE JAEGERS."

I'm actually considering listing my migraines as a disability, which I never have before.

In funnier news, I completed the info they needed for a background check, and they were like, "Okay, we'll send you a copy. It usually takes 2-3 days, but sometimes as long as 30 days."

It came back in about an hour. They might as well have called it "You Are Really Boring.pdf".

This is the letter I just sent to my senators. Can this pandemic please be over? Please?

Senator Feinstein, I'm writing this as the owner of a small business which works primarily for the entertainment industry. Specifically most of our work is in themed entertainment. Our largest clients are theme parks like Universal Studios. As you can imagine since March it has been very difficult keeping things going. Thankfully my business qualified for the PPP program, and it worked as designed. It provided a way for me to keep my 8 employees working through to this summer.

This issue is that this pandemic is not over. The aid was provided to get small businesses through to the summer, but now we are still facing closed entertainment venues for the foreseeable future. I agree that these closures are the correct thing to do for public health. The unfortunate fallout from this is the danger to my business.

I am shocked that the Senate went on August recess without coming to any resolution for providing aid to small businesses and to the unemployed in this country. It breaks my heart to see all of us left out in the cold while our representatives head back home and we now have to wait for weeks before there is a chance of aid.

I am begging you on behalf of not just my business, but on behalf of everyone who's livelihood is rooted in the entertainment industry to find a way get aid and relief moving as soon as possible. We were the first industry to shut down, and we will be one of the last to come back. Almost everyone I know who works in this industry supports the closures in the interest of public health, but now we are paying dearly with our jobs and the prospect of losing our businesses. In 2019 Arts and Entertainment was more than 4% of GDP, and yet I hear very little in the public discourse about saving this industry. We are a huge part of the economic engine on this country. I'm here asking for help with a bridge to the future. I know that when this pandemic recedes arts and entertainment will coming surging back. All of us that depend on this work need assistance to make sure that our jobs and our businesses are still standing when that happens.

It is so stunning that they just left without doing anything, Drew. We really can't wait until next January to have functional government. It is just an overwhelming concept. This pandemic is not even close to under control.

Yeah. I wasn't expecting them to do everything that is needed, but I was honestly pretty shocked that they didn't pass ANYTHING, and then just went on vacation. Just read how August Recess is described on the senate.gov website:

meara, I recall crate training our dog (decades ago) when she whined in the crate. We started by putting her in it while we were with her, so she didn't feel abandoned for short periods of time.

Whenever she whined, I smacked the top of the crate. The noise scared her enough that she stopped whining. And I only did it when she whined. Eventually, she stopped, and LOVED her crate. We left the door open for her and all we had to do was say, "Go to bed" and she would go right in.

Still, puppies are EXHAUSTING. We dogsat a 6 month old puppy last weekend and ended up bringing him into the bed with us because: EXHAUSTED.
