It is so stunning that they just left without doing anything, Drew. We really can't wait until next January to have functional government. It is just an overwhelming concept. This pandemic is not even close to under control.

Yeah. I wasn't expecting them to do everything that is needed, but I was honestly pretty shocked that they didn't pass ANYTHING, and then just went on vacation. Just read how August Recess is described on the senate.gov website:
Today, the August recess continues to be a regular feature of the Senate schedule, a chance for senators to spend time with family, meet with constituents in their home states, and catch up on summer reading.
Great, go catch up on summer reading, I'll watch my friends go fucking homeless and starve.

JESUS WEPT. I HATE THESE MOTHERFUCKERS.
I am so so tired. So tired. This puppy life is killing me
meara, I recall crate training our dog (decades ago) when she whined in the crate. We started by putting her in it while we were with her, so she didn't feel abandoned for short periods of time.
Whenever she whined, I smacked the top of the crate. The noise scared her enough that she stopped whining. And I only did it when she whined. Eventually, she stopped, and LOVED her crate. We left the door open for her and all we had to do was say, "Go to bed" and she would go right in.
Still, puppies are EXHAUSTING. We dogsat a 6 month old puppy last weekend and ended up bringing him into the bed with us because: EXHAUSTED.
It's awful. I truly do not understand how they can walk around thinking they are ok human beings much less doing the right thing
That's an excellent letter, Noise. I assume you also sent one to our other senator/vp candidate...
In better news - it's my payday today, so I have totted up my bills and paid most of them (some of them are on autopay and some have to wait for, like, a credit card payment to clear so I have room to put this bill on that credit card) but if I have done all the math right and not missed any bills I have some money left to buy groceries! Huzzah!
The puppy is making me tired just from meara's description.
A neighbor at my old place has a young rescue bassett ... and he's a lot of trouble for her. Last I heard, she hadn't managed to reliably housebreak him and he was seriously destructive. He chewed up her phone, her glasses and had broken a lot of stuff. Puppies are a lot of work ... some more than others, I'd guess (never having had a dog).
Dana, congrats!
ND, I got nothing. I am no longer shocked at the level of apathy and incompetence (and, let's be fair, malice) shown daily by our national legislators, but it is so hard to watch it happen.
That is a great letter, and a crying shame, ND.

This is why people think they should get parental leave for puppies. (But still no.)
I edited an article with an author named Mako Mori, and it was so hard to not put a comment in saying "Tell me about the Jaegers. TELL ME ABOUT THE JAEGERS."
Ha!

Huzzah!
Ha, I was right about needing to link the Pool Code to the store number!
I'm saying it here so I don't say it out loud to my coworkers. That would be mean. But I did say and no one would listen
