Because books.

meara, get him some chew toys. And a puzzle toy you can put treats in. That should keep him occupied a bit.

Herding cats for fun

FYI Meara, my Lily Bean had a long Bite Everyone All The Time stage in her kittenhood. I had bleeding punctures on my arms. She would throw herself at Sophie and Pearlie and bite, bite, bite. Not a good way to make friends. It's a baby thing and it will pass. Teach bite inhibition by shrieking dramatically and running away if it hurts. That will spoil the game and make an impression that sticks. Eventually.

Lily still loves to bite us but is very gentle. So one of her auxiliary names is Finger Taster.

Aaaah, a nice quiet morning with no beak rapping on the window. GO AWAY, bird!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Dogs aren't allowed to go to the dog park until they've had all their shots! So another couple months. And I've tried giving plenty of different chew toys but they are clearly not as fun as my arm or my hand or my boob or my earring or my notebook or my headphones or or or...

Librarian Warlord

meara, if you let out a yelp (like another dog would if hurt) it will help the puppy learn that you are not a chew toy. Like a human baby, that is how puppy is learning about the world.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Nope ... not sure where the story went to ... it was a woman who got a kit to make her own vibrator.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

There is a reason "No Biting" is part of Erzabet's name. But yes, letting out a yelp and dramatically pulling your hand away will help the puppy learn not to do that. Or to at least do it very gently, which is what Miss Erzabet does now.
