Wow, you've really mastered the power of positive giving-up.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm glad the birthday party went well, sj.

I'm watching Agrippina from the Met. It's streaming for free until ~6 tonight, probably EDT, if anyone else is interested.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Omg. I am exhausted. Last night went way better, but still! And puppy was like "ok it's 7am time to be awake and play! But only if I'm touching you otherwise I will just bark my head off!"

Sounds like being a parent.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Glad the party went well, sj!

why did I ever wear uncomfortable clothes?

Key question!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Today's fun at the grocery store was woman with mask way below nose, and her partner, man with mask hanging from his ear so he can vape.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I wish Nova would wait until 7 am to start meowing, but it's been somewhere between 5:30 and 6 for a while. Ugh.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

We used to feed the cats at 7:30 back when we had, like, places to be and stuff. Now I get up at 6:30, feed the cats, and go back to sleep till whenever. Since Tom actually has to wake up at a specific time for work (no commute though), I figure it's fair to let him sleep through all that drama.

I need to go to the grocery store today. Mask usage has gone up quite a bit from what it used to be but I'd say about 20% of the people there won't be wearing one. Technically speaking, I'm immuno-compromised so that's not great. OTOH, there are times I kind of hope to get COVID and die so it's not all bad I guess (I'm still wearing a mask everywhere though, I don't want minimize spreading it to others regardless). At least, I don't get disapproving looks when I wear a mask like I used to.

No, that is bad. We don't want you to get sick, and we don't want you to wish you were sick.

What Dana said. It sounds like an awful disease, and wouldn't make anything better.

I skipped out on going out to brunch (outdoors) because we're going for a ride in a couple of hours and I cannot do heavy exercise on a full stomach. I'm really jealous of people who can.

Went to the farmer's market this morning and although there was like 95% mask compliance, I did notice the two young white women strolling through without masks (not hanging around their necks or whatever, not there at all). What makes you special, young lady? There are signs all over the farmer's market.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I am glad the party went well, sj!

I think in Wester NY the mask usage is going down, because we didn't have a big surge. Maria and I went to a park today, and people were really gathered. We parked far away and then just walked to the hiking trail, and we only ran into one or two other families on the trail, but none of them were even carrying masks. We left pretty quickly. I mean, maybe we were dumb to even pod, but I think there came a point where we couldn't be the only (adult) person we ever talked to in person. And also, frankly, if I get sick I am going to need her and probably vice versa.

Also, does anyone else have Gwynnie Bee? I had it and loved it before the pandemic, but now I don't really need it and it seems IMPOSSIBLE to cancel. I have been on hold for hours, and I don't have that much time to be on hold, what with all the zoom meetings! I do not need to spend $80 a month on a dress subscription service I am not using. Maria thought maybe I could send a letter? It is with Paypal, so I am not even sure I could take it up with my "credit card" company.
