Wash: Well, I wash my hands of it. It's a hopeless case. I'll read a nice poem at the funeral. Something with imagery. Zoe: You could lock the door and keep the power-hungry maniac at bay. Wash: Oh, no, I'm starting to like this poetry idea now. Here lies my beloved Zoe, my autumn flower, somewhat less attractive now she's all corpsified and gross...

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I have come to really like this site. They pick a photo - usually news oriented - and discuss what's going on, what it's about. Good food for thought.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My employer announced they are doing a talent competition. Luckily, I have no talent.

Didn't we see you singing in a video not that long ago??

I think you should! I have also been watching a lot of GBBO, and I am here to encourage you Mel & Sue style!

I have bookmarked a recipe for rough puff that only uses like 1.5 sticks of butter, so that sounds reasonable?

There is nothing in that video that would give the impression that I have talent.

As much as I love GBBO, I don't know if I'll ever have the ... whatever ... to try making puff pastry from scratch. I might resort to the frozen stuff from the store; I have bought phyllo pastry from the store, which worked out pretty well. (Years ago, my aunt told me she'd been in the store looking for phyllo leaves in the herb/spice section ... without any luck.)

Frozen puff pastry is great, as is frozen phyllo. Seriously, who would make phyllo?!?

My hot tip for the best fancy appetizer for some money but not a lot of work: brie baked in puff pastry, with something sweet on top of the cheese, under the pastry. (Could be just jam, could be some nuts and sugar situation, whatever)

There is nothing in that video that would give the impression that I have talent.

Untrue!!!

GBBO contestants would - have - made phyllo from scratch.

I know, and one of them said she had done it once before in the 80s and said never again!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Another week, another negative COVID-19 test.

I can't see making my own phyllo certainly. Probably even puff pastry—I never have so I'd probably just buy frozen!

Meanwhile, I have a sleeping puppy on my lap. Omg.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

JZ reports that having talked it over with various Greek Yia yias, frozen phyllo is just as good as homemade and a thousand times easier.
