Around here it was announced that the Topsfield Fair (monthlong event in October) will be cancelled this year. It's been running since 1818.. and only missed in 1918, and 1943-45. And of course, that's a huge loss for all the exhibitors.
It happened that I drove past the Museum of Science today -- one lone DUKBoat, waiting for socially-distanced tourists, not that any can come into MA from all but a handful of states.
We're really just, like, maybe a quarter-way into this crisis? With still a long long way to go.
I saw that an annual rodeo in Minnesota was held as usual - no masks required, a lot more people than the 250 the state said such gatherings should be limited to ... oh, as usual, dear.
In happier news, Spiderman is alive, well and perching on lampposts in Albany.
a lack of clothes buying. This does hurt womens clothes more probably
I know my fun clothes shopping has pretty much halted, even from eBay/Etsy/Poshmark. Hell, even my clothing alteration projects have slowed, because I'm not going anywhere fun.
Yeah, I think at the beginning I spent a lot less except on groceries. Now I'm buying more random shit online because I'm bored. Also bought a bunch of clothes from old navy because most of my pants don't fit because of all the sugar I've been eating.
Do you want a new job, Gud?
I'm pretty happy with my current job, but I wouldn't mind getting paid more. I'm making less than at my last two jobs, especially after the COVID cut. Not that I can complain. I'm pretty fortunate.
I just ordered cute boots because cute boots on sale. But I've been pretty austere about shopping otherwise. I think I'm even accidentally being frugal about groceries as a side effect of trying to go the store as infrequently as possible.
I've been trying not to stress buy things on the internet, but I've mostly been failing. I'm trying to keep it to cheap digital books, groceries and gourmet foods, and gifts for ltc's birthday.
Timelies all!
It was decided at work that we need to get tested on a regular basis, so I had a test yesterday. Results come through pretty quickly, so I know I'm negative for the virus.
I've been shopping online too much and eating too much.
On the bright side, Wisconsin just got a state mask mandate.
That's great, Sheryl. Frequent testing helps both in control of the virus and emotional well being.
I've shopped more than I should. Clothes because I didn't pack much thinking I would be returning to Florida, and frankly I wear stuff that is decades old so not crazy shopping. House stuff just because. For a bit I was getting deliveries most every day. I have calmed down somewhat.
