Take care of yourself, Katie Bee. You are right, can't be spreading that around.
Oh you went ahead with the turfing, meara! Glad it turned out well!

My current urgent work thing is trying to make sure Target has enough stockpots Nov/Dec. Supply chain drama.
I think 2005-2011 Focus are the good years.
Yes, these are good. Definitely DO NOT get a 2012 or newer. They have been subject to a class action lawsuit over bad transmissions. I had a 2012 and sued Ford over it and won, and that was just the infotainment system, and then the transmission started failing at less than 2 years old and less than 20k miles.
Almost anything Toyota will be super reliable, but because of that they hold their value really well, so it's harder to find one that is cheap that isn't also old with lots of miles.
Ford Ranger pickups with the 4 Cylinder engine tend to be very reliable and easy to work on. Not a ton of power but that's the trade off. The two 6 Cylinder engines in them have different issues. The 3.0 is not super reliable. the 4.0 is good, but at about 150k miles the timing chain guides start to fail and you have to pull the motor to replace them. If that work has been done then it's a great engine.
Also if you are buying in the Northeast you need to really watch out for rust, especially frame rust, on any used car. I always need to remind myself about that since here California that's just not a thing we worry about, and I'm sure it's the same in FL.
I have had SUCH a pointless week. It's Thursday, apparently? When did that happen?
Ugh, same! At least it's almost done I guess??

That is amazing and I love it.

Oh, this reminds me that I got amazing customer service from a different part of the Target supply chain -- they don't sell a replacement lampshade for the lamp I have, but the supplier sent me a new one for free!
Yes, the rust issue is huge with older vehicles here. Part of my reason for wanting DH to get one in Florida and drive it up here.
My dad had a Ford Ranger for ~25 years. It was still running at the end when he sold it to a farmer.
I had reasonably good luck with my Honda Fit. It lasted 11 years before starting to need work, and that was fairly minor stuff.
My niece-in-law has had her Subaru Impreza for a long time. But you have to be careful to get ones manufactured after a common head gasket issue was resolved (2011 or so).
My Chevy Cavalier went to 230,000 miles with no problems at all. I shouldn't have sold it, it probably lasted another 50,000 miles at least.
My 2007 Ford Focus was a very acceptable vehicle. (It replaced the motorcycle, so I wasn't going to be excited about it.)

Matilda is here, and Peanut is showing her All Of The Toys. Matilda is very good at being Appropriately Impressed. Big thanks to the Zmayhems for raising such a patient kid and letting her come over here and hang with mine.
I came here instead of Tumblr, in the hopes that I won't spend all of this time scrolling. We Shall See.

Aw, Housewares, coming through for the consumer! That was nice of them.
Hi juliana!

I don't think anyone is very excited about a 2007 Ford Focus. Though I drove a loaner 2008 Ford Focus for a little bit (for title reasons not mechanical reasons) and I liked the 2007 better.
