I'm not melting yet today, so that's nice.
Had my performance review for 2019 - 5 stars for me, yay, but no raises, as expected. Incentive to work hard = very low
ETA I can't be too mad about not getting a raise when we had layoffs, but OTOH our revenue is WAY UP compared to last year so not even a cost of living increase is a little hard to swallow
I just signed up for a trial thingy through Kaiser that gets me livestreamed workout classes and also in person classes. Now, gyms are closed right now (I think? I didn't pay that much attention to their status) but there is one class offered in my general area and it's for pole dancing. I'm tempted. But also very very very out of shape...
KatP would tell you to get on that pole!

Yeah, you should be getting raises! We are not getting raises, so we don't have to do ratings, although we are expected to have performance conversations. I mean, I am assuming that's why no ratings but I guess the higher-ups haven't actually connected those dots.

I'll keep with the just watching Kat's video's instead of trying myself. She is amazing.
Boo for no raises.

That's why I'm tempted! Looks like there's a beginners class every Tuesday, I'll think about it.
My boss clearly didn't want to be doing the appraisal either, she was all "of course we can't do [goal]" and "now is not the best time for [other goal]" and "these dates will all have to be flexible". I guess it's good to have all the good commentary on record although as far as I can tell these appraisals go into a file somewhere and are never seen again. Bah.
Time for an actual break to eat lunch.

That's what the money is for!

I have so goddamn much work on my plate right now and so goddamn little energy to do it with. I've basically been on the phone for the last 6 hours without a break and my brain is MUSH.
6 hours on the phone does not sound possible. You are a hero for surviving!
I feel like the implied social contract with my employer is that I will do the minimum amount of work required and they will underpay me for even that. And if they feel like it, lay me off.
I also don't feel like there is a better deal to be had, though, so here we are.
And I will try to stop droning on about it, sorry.
6 hours of in-person meetings would be exhausting enough. 6 hours of video conference calls is basically torture.
Video?!? Oh no, that should not be allowed.
