And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I got my first post-Covid non-home haircut today and it was WONDERFUL. My head is no longer covered in frizzy split ends AND I got to talk to THREE PEOPLE in person outside my immediate family!

So jelly!

Today is JZ's dad's birthday and coming so soon after Father's Day it's been hard on her. Made more complicated by tomorrow being her birthday and she really just wants to hunker down and slide past it without notice.

He used to always tell her, "You're the best birthday present I ever got!" So it's all tangled up.

That said, Matilda and I will be making a cake.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

vent warning -

The IT department at work has created a website that employees must use to gain entry to buildings each day now that we are doing some re-opening. 3 questions/fields - it captures the data and date and you get a green go or red stop.

It is a WEBSITE - web address to go to.

They are calling it an App in all the re-opening webinars and powerpoints and handouts to all 8000+ employees.

I was like "um, it't not an app - it's a website - that is confusing - we should change it in our presentations" to my boss and team. Big boss said it is the term OIT is using!?!?!?!?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Hil, my cousin had to travel from St. Louis to Myrtle Beach to attend the closing of several properties, so she and her husband made it as a several-stage camping trip, which meant that they didn't have to worry about dodgy hotel rooms, and could give a quick spritz of Lysol et cetera around the campground bathrooms to be sure they were clean of virus.

I'll let you know in two weeks if that worked -- but I suspect it will as a strategy.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

That probably works better in June than in November.

Yikes, true dat.

By November, perhaps some hotels will be offering specially cleansed rooms for travelers. And it may be that you can trust that some chain restaurants will be all-masked-all-the-time et cetera.

We are, alas, in for a marathon of this if we as a nation don't smarten up.

I'd think that a hotel room ought to be fairly safe, especially if you check in late at night (when more time will have passed, presumably, since a previous person or the cleaner was in the room).

I did take a lunch break and walk 5 blocks down to the taco place for lunch and then across to the brand new bougie grocery store that opened last week. That'll make 10 grocery stores within a mile of me. A food jungle rather than a food desert.
