I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I should have known.

Glad for tat, msbelle.

I am so not into working today! I really just want to sleep all week. I realize it's only Tuesday. but I feel confident I will keep wanting to sleep for several more days.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Tim keeps saying we need some plumbing work done (I know exactly zero about plumbing stuff and was trying to pretend that it's eternal and never ever needs maintenance), and every time he does, I mutter "Full. Copper. REPIPE." I think we didn't get to S6 of Buffy, so he's understandably confused.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

There was also a bit in Moonstruck where a plumber is talking up the advantages of copper pipes (the father of Cher's character).

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

We are getting full PVC repipe, but the desire to cry and smash things is much the same.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm excited about Hamliton in some ways and in others all I can do is look at all those names and think "slave holder, slave holder, supporter of slavery, liar about how all people being treated equal"

Christopher Jackson, who played Washington in the original Broadway cast, was interviewed where he talked about that. He mentioned playing a character that was both a foundational part of the American mythos and [hiding for possible dental squicks] someone who pulled teeth from his living slaves to use in his 18th-century dentures. He said it was a difficult issue to get his head around.

Nixon was preemptively pardoned.

He was pardoned by his former Vice President and member of his party, who didn't want more stuff to come out of a trial that could hurt the ability of the Republicans to have a political presence. I don't think Biden will have a similar motivation, should he be given the chance.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Our condo was built with PVC pipe. It burst while we were on vacation, so we came home to a complete mess. Luckily, we had good insurance, so we were able to spend the next 2 months in a hotel while the condo was repaired and repiped with copper pipe.

Anyone who wants to read more can check the Natter threads from the summer of 2002 (if the threads still exist). I talked about it at the time. Made the Buffy ep a few months later kind of tough to watch.

I'm more concerned that Trump will preemptively pardon himself and his family before leaving office.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Which is why the state prosecutions matter so much.

ION - LUNCH BREAK!

I have decided to go on full 14 day house quarantine, so I am not going out like I want to. And because I am spending all my money on a garage door and gate and electricity to both plus dog/dog trip, I am not ordering in. current lunch plan is a lb of cheese. hmmmm

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Pretty sure the President can't pardon himself, but I'm sure he will try. And if he does it on the way out the door I don't know who will stand up for him: when he's out of power I don't know how much of the GOP is going to continue to ride on his coattails. It may depend on how badly he crashes and burns, I guess.

Apparently Biden is doing really well in the polls despite not having much on-the-ground organizing going on. I mean, I live in a true blue place and I don't see any signs yet. Maybe later in the year?

I think I've seen one Biden sign. There are still a lot of Bernie signs up in my neighborhood, which is about right for this place. IIRC, there's still one Yang sign in a neighbor's yard, too.
