Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I'm packing to move. The mover's coming Thursday. It's not going well. I'd swear my stuff is breeding when I turn my back - I keep finding STUFF. I don't think I'm going to have enough boxes ... I don't have room to move, there are so many boxes and things piled up.

Meanwhile, I had to apply for a reserved parking permit. Did that, got the signs printed (had to visit two police stations and get someone to help me, but they got printed ... and I ended up with mild heat stroke/exhaustion). Put the signs up today - they have to be up 72 hours in advance. I have to upload the photos showing that they're posted ... but the DOT's website doesn't give a link to upload the photos. I get the page that shows what they need, but no place to upload them. I've talked to three people and left a voice mail plus an email for another person who may help.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I have landed in Dallas. With middle seats empty the plane was full. That is too many people. I was not 6 ft from anyone around me. Less people wearing their masks in this airport. I got out of the terminal as fast as possible and have found a bench near the entrance to the parking garage with no one around.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Also, I think he's not-well and is not really interested in another four years. I think he would excuse away his loss as being an aberration of the pandemic and slink away.

I doubt his ego would even consider that, especially considering how much his family is sucking in at the public teat.

Good luck msbelle!

Good luck Toddson too—moving is always a pain but that sounds extra.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ugh, Toddson, what a pain! I hope someone comes through with help.

Non-exposure~ma, msbelle.

Thrive to spite them

So Matthew's brother and his family and his sister and her family are all going to Mrytle Beach in a week or so.

None of them are wearing masks. His mom said at their church no one is wearing masks. She did say she probably will stop going to church bc of that.

Greenville City is trying to pass an emergency ordinance to require customers and employees of grocery stores and pharmacies to wear masks . I think maybe to expand it to be all retail employees have to wear masks.

I'm expecting a lot of pushback and physical alterations over this. I hope that we can require customers to wear masks but don't think that will happen soon.

Hec, you forgot the one thing he needs is to be protected from prosecution, which only happens so long as he's president. He's desperate to stay in office, not because he enjoys it, but because the incoming administration may well charge him with (at least) tax fraud. Probably also witness intimidation, self-dealing, obstruction of justice, and who knows what else. Plus he wants to protect his kids, who are even more vulnerable (although he can pardon them, I guess).

If he loses and actually leaves in January, watch him issue a raft of pardons on his way out the door. They'll be selling pardons on the street-corner like medieval indulgences.

askye, I'm so sorry that your local government and employers can't do more to protect you and everyone else working in public-facing jobs.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Zenkitty, I believe in you. Take a deep breath, screw your courage to the sticking place, etc. You can do the thing!

Ugh, Toddson, moving is the WORST. There are never enough boxes. When I was moving to Boston, there was no way for me to get the parking permits, so I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best -- and when I got there, there were already parking permits up in front of my new place! They weren't for the exact time, but no one was parked there, my truck pulled up and we had no problems. I wish you the same good luck in your move!

I hope that we can require customers to wear masks but don't think that will happen soon.

Yikes, askye. I'm just so used to everything being so hard core here, I can't even imagine.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Ugh, for Father's Day yesterday, we went to my dad's and got carryout for lunch to eat at his place, because I'm just not comfortable eating in a restaurant yet. I picked up the order and put my mask on before I got out of the car. There were about 5 people standing outside the restaurant looking at the menu -- no masks. They kind of looked at me like I was crazy. At the host stand, there was another group of about 5 people standing together -- also no masks. What the fuck is wrong with people?

The restaurant was really full -- the tables weren't distanced any further apart than they were before Covid-19. And the booths were all full (I would have thought maybe stagger them so there's one booth full, one empty, etc). Nobody at a table/booth was wearing a mask, but I didn't expect that.

Anyway, yeah. Ohio is sucking, Covid-19 cases are increasing in my county, and I am not eating in a restaurant for a long goddamn time. (And I say that knowing that a new taqueria is opening in Northside in July. Thank god for carryout.)

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Business are required to mandate masks, but the guy and his kid in line in front of us at the store didn't have them, which is just fucking great with an elderly cashier and bagger. And the cashier had his mask pulled below his nose.
