Happy Birthday, askye!
Hec, I'm sorry Matilda's high school placement has been so upsetting. I remember the timing of her not getting into the school she wanted. Your family deserves a break.
meara, congrats on the impending puppy! I have a dog, but she was a young adult house trained rescue, so I don't have much specific advice.
I know puppies need a lot of attention (which, as long as you're home, shouldn't be too hard, because PUPPY!), and you have to be consistent in house training. Do you know the people you're adopting from?
In other news, here's an old PSA for those who see something that looks like a tooth.
Toddson, that's hilarious. I will show him later.
(I also greatly enjoyed Ted Cruz bringing a knife to a Ron Perlman gun fight as it played out on Twitter, yesterday.)
Tallk me off the ledge. A friend of mine was the victim of a racist incident, which she posted about and a friend of hers responded with "All lives matter." "Don't let one bad apple cloud your judgement."
I am ready to burst into the thread and start verbally eviscerating him.
Are humans really this garbage?
Are you fucking kidding me? I would not have been here to talk you off that ledge.
Amen.
Cashmere, the wrong person is/was on the ledge, though.
Jesse, I responded to him. I couldn't let that pass. No response.
I want to kick him in the head.
...so that he falls off the ledge, yes?
Are they generally this messed up, or is it a pandemic special?
Little bit from column A, little bit from column B.
School placement is always fucked up in SFUSD. It is literally the main thing that drives families out of San Francisco.
Because of the pandemic everything has been compressed and they've skipped steps and eliminated options. So...less wiggle room.
If you remember wayback, I had this issue with placing Emmett in elementary school which is why he went to school in the East Bay and I spent 12 years of my life commuting back and forth across the Bay Bridge.
I have such PTSD dealing with school placement. It's a nightmare.
Aw, man. Starting high school is enough of a transition, and it will suck mightily if Matilda has to start 3+ weeks after everyone else.
Also, happy birthday, askye!
I realize I forgot to say: PUPPY! Puppy puppy puppy! Yay puppy!
I feel like I got super lucky with Walter in that he was just naturally a good doggo with barely any effort on our part, but obedience/canine citizen/manners/whatever classes are GREAT, probably more for the owner than the dog
Happy Birthday askye.
I took a longer than normal lunch, went and ran errands. Got back and have someone coming this afternoon to pick up more boxes I have unpacked. YAY! I am starting to get a handle on the clutter, a bit. Things are finding their places and then I also have a whole box of to-get rid of stuff.
Go msbelle!
I went out and brought the garbage cans back from the street and it is nice out today. I would much rather be out working in the yard than working for pay. Alas.
I can barely comprehend that, Hec. No placement at all? Poor Matilda, that is awful. Why such a mess, SF school system? I mean, I'm sure there are well documented reasons and I don't really want to know what they are at this point, but OUTRAGE
This just boggles me. Isn't school a right? I don't understand school placement at all because I grew up in the country where it took, like five towns to make one school district. We had one person transfer from the next district over because we had better AP classes and a music program, and her school district was responisble for her transportation to oour school, which was about a half hour drive through the country. But this seems outrageous.
I am at work at work. It's okay; I kinda hate it.
Also we opened at 10am yesterday and someone overdosed in the bathroom at 12:30. (He was fine; we haven't lost one yet.)
