They've got him on doxycycline for now, but IV antibiotic treatment is a possibility if that isn't effective.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Health~ma to your dad, shrift.

Buffistas, as usual, all of my love. It is heartbreaking just to read the news from afar.

This is about six blocks away from me. The park where we hold trans pride. The park we play soccer in. Across from where I dance. A block from the police station. People are saying there's tear gas in their apartments. I've heard helicopters the last several hours. Can't hear anything else and not worried for my own safety at this point but it's still scary. ~love, meara. It is.

Edited to add: A memory came to my mind today. One of the acts that brought me hope during one of the summers where people were again killing one another here and it was a bit unsafe to be outside without being alerted was street art. I started a day walking outside to take the bus and found that overnight the curb of the square in the entrance of the neighborhood I was living in then covered in statements in three languages and peace symbols: "I hope", "I dream", "I love", "I want". The square itself had matching signs on it. Brought back so much humanity that was missing.

My "can't read" mind shifted 180 to "must read. Bring Hamlet. Bring literature. Bring sci-fi. I need to hear these voices". I think that with so much violence and despair, I need to hear the humanity. The hope. To the point where I prioritize it over school work, which is problematic but can't be done without hope.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Well, there's looting at the mall, apparently, but it doesn't seem to be happening under cover of riots or protests it's just straight up breaking into stores.

Our wings are not tired.

Same, but prioritizing over my work, not school. I've been sitting reading while DH watches the news. I don't even hear it because I get completely absorbed in the pages.

In over-reaction news one of my medical practices in Boca Raton had to close at 4 yesterday because their building (all medical) was going to lock up at 5 because of protests. They are miles from downtown in suburbia.

And in every day gets more unreal, the bible photo-op yesterday is right up there with the most ridiculous displays from this clown. Peaceful DC protesters gassed for this absurd display of cluelessness.
