Looking at the description of that executive order, that would be so far-reaching it's going to make allies out of most of the tech world, from the EFF to Google.
Yeah, it's very broad. It might not end up going anywhere, but if it does, it's going to be ugly.
If the order stands, I'd recommend the new board only be readable by registered users. I think there are going to be organizations just scanning the Internet for websites to sue.
I mean, I don't expect it to actually go anywhere, but these days you never know.
I feel weird about that idea and also that maybe there's no reason to feel weird about it? I don't know what to think.

I'd prefer that anyway, to be honest.
In a sane world, an EO cannot overrule Section 230.
However we're not in a sane world and I could see the maggats taking direction from 45 and attacking random sites they perceive as in violation of his desires. It may be reasonable prudence to consider some privacy options.
So crazy because it seems like if they have to start reviewing every post, his would be MORE likely to be reviewed???
Also I think we had the convo back in the day about keeping the board visible to get new members but that...seems unlikely these days?
I agree with Jessica on this. Back in the day when there were current Mutant Enemy shows drawing in new posters it seemed important to keep the welcome mat out, but it's been a long time since that was the case. I'd rather circle the wagons and have new people join up only if they're invited/vetted by board members, particularly if the Cheeto in Chief is looking for lawsuit fodder.
Totally off topic, but I wanted to share something NICE (just for a change of pace).

Yeah, it should just be a distraction. Should.
