I would think sticking something huge in the dishwasher very often to be wasteful, but if it's just once in a while I'd probably be ok with it? I grew up in a family that was very selective of what could go into the dishwasher and married into a family that if it fits in the dishwasher it's probably dishwasher safe (that's a little bit of an exaggeration but that is how it seemed at times) so I have actively tried to be more relaxed about that. With some success. But for sure would load the small stuff first and wash the big stuff by hand if that was all that was left to wash...
I have so few dishes, I think a dishwasher would be unnecessary. I'm moving into a new apartment in June and it has a dishwasher ... maybe I'll start using it ... or maybe I'll use it to drain handwashed dishes. We'll see.
But maybe I'm a weirdo and everyone else is like "but if it CAN go in the dishwasher why would you hand wash it?"
I wash the cookware and my wooden spoons and knives by hand. Huge bowls too. They block the jets from working properly! Also the silicone stuff because it gets a white film. So yeah, basically just the eating stuff, not the prep stuff.
Pots should basically be hand washed (I have some exceptions I can't describe). Big bowls, it depends on what else is going on. Like, if it's been a week so the top is full of mugs and the plate part is full of plates? Sure.
They block the jets from working properly!
Yes, that was always the argument in my house. Dishes and utensils go in the dishwasher, but big bowls, pots and pans are washed by hand.
I had not been using my dishwasher that much, but I certainly am now, given all the extra dishes I'm generating. Feh.
I bought and am waiting for delivery of a new dishwasher that had a special section for a pot or other item that needs extra attention. It has its own jet spray. I'm also ridiculously excited by the silverware drawer at the top of the machine. It will also fit baby bottle nipples!
Man, I just talked to someone who's seeing the back doctor who did my surgery three years ago. She wanted to talk to a patient who'd been through the surgery they're recommending. I had to look back at my Dreamwidth and FB to see what I wrote about it at the time.
From the first time I went to the doctor to the date of surgery was about three months. This woman has been dealing with pain for SEVEN MONTHS. I seriously hope she has the surgery and gets some immediate relief.
Just curious, about how many people wear masks when you are at a store these days? Seems like it's fallen to about 10% in my area.
I don't like this at all. I would like my family (and you!) to remain healthy.
I'd say 90% or more are wearing masks here, but not all of them are actually covering their noses or mouths.
I was big bowls in the dishwasher, but I put them over smaller stuff. And everything seems to come out clean.
