I don't wear a mask on my apartment complex grounds or in the car. On the grounds it's easy to keep well away from people, and my cat's leash makes an easy 8 foot measurement. Plus, aside from the parking lot, people really don't take advantage of the grounds like I do. Otherwise, if I'm out of my apartment, I'm in a mask. I live in a college hippie environment, and most people are masking. Once undergrads are back in the fall (shakes fist at UNC's board of governors), I expect that'll change. And there'll be a lot of people close together, partying. And then a sharp spike in virus cases.

In my feeble defense, my eyes itch like a motherfucker. I don't know what decided to bloom today, but apparently whatever it is, ALL OF IT bloomed today. Goddamn allergies.

I find it easier to just have it on and keep it on. Also it becomes less bothersome, I got more used to it the more I wore it. Also my mask has ties not elastic so harder to put off and on.

Public transit requires "face coverings" - they have notices on the doors (the front section of the bus is closed off to protect the driver, so everyone enters and exits through the back door). Most people are good about having something on their face AND not sitting close together.

But people out walking around - I'd say about half aren't wearing masks or anything. A number will have a mask but either hanging off one ear or down under their chin. Although I did see a woman running with a mask pushed up on her forehead ... kind of corona unicorn effect.

People at the grocery store mostly wear masks. Those who do not get stink eye. At Grocery Outlet the manager announced over the PA that anyone choosing not to mask would be asked to leave.

Going to the bank in a mask felt really weird, like I expected to be reprimanded for hiding my identity. The security guard was nice and helpful- letting us in one at a time, sanitizing the ATM and offering bottles of cold water from a big bag. He made me feel a lot better.

The grocery I usually go to has security people at the front door to make sure everyone's wearing a mask. They also have a limit on how many people can be in the store (which is why I go there early) and a sign marking where the line to get in starts. They have signs on the floor marking six feet for distancing and the checkers will warn over-eager shoppers to back off. The aisles are marked one way, but a lot of people ignore that. My bank's not open to customers, although they keep the ATM stocked.

Yes, in addition to the masks I see employees stationed at the doors wiping handles and carts after every use. I let them know it is appreciated.

I have been wondering how my credit union deals with the mask issue - in normal times, you enter through a sort of airlock and there's a sign that tells you to take of your sunglasses and hats/hoodies and they buzz you in the rest of the way. I think they emails a statement that probably included the new procedure but...so many emailed COVID-19 statements and I haven't needed to go to the bank so I don't actually know.

Back when I was a teller in a small branch a million years ago my manager really really hated Halloween. Understandably.

My little bodega is FULL of people not masking. I am a hand sanitizer crazy person after I visit. Also my downstairs neighbor had someone over on Monday, but I could just hear them, and they could be distancing.

I am so lucky to be able to work from home, because it is really the bus that seems like a terrible idea to me, even if masked. Our building is still semi-closed, and completely closed to students.

A lot of stores here who were doing free or low cost contactless delivery are not allowing it anymore, so for example I am having a challenge getting some nice dirt for my garden. Walking distance requires some sort of wagon, other things require Uber or Bus or getting a ride from a friend. I am considering asking Maria to pick up and drop off a curbside delivery from Home Depot, because one bag of soil will cost me $89 to have delivered!
