When I dropped off some groceries (from a restaurant, but grocery items) at my parents' 3 weeks ago the plan was for me to leave it on their porch - mom opened the door and we did the ransom exchange drop off with each of us backing away appropriately. Did the same thing In the driveway with a couple of beers I was offering to my dad, he'd been in the side yard so that was the convenient place to get his attention. My mom came out through the garage and we all stood around in a loose triangle chatting for half an hour. Weird but nice!
Just got a text from my boss asking if I have any restrictions on coming back in to work in the office so I guess that's happening. A pervasive sense of impending doom is not one of the recognized reasons for wfh, alas.
"oh , we know each other it's no big deal"
That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

I would counter by asking what measures they're taking in order to make it safe for you to return to the office. I'm looking at continuing to WFH until October or even longer.
Two of my residents have gotten over the virus! Not the way to bet when one is a resident in an assisted living place. I was afraid that I'd come back to work to find that a lot of people were sick or dead, but the latest round of testing found no staff sick, and only one new resident testing positive.
It's only anecdotal data, but it does seem like social distancing, face masks and lots of hand-washing do actually work.
Wow, that's amazing!
I am super ready to go back to the office, and figure I could be one of the first. Or second, because some people have been there all along, at least some of the time. But I can walk to work and I have my own office and no kids at home, so.
That's great, Theo!
We probably won't be going back to the office until fall, and our assistant director has suggested we may be working from home until January.

NYT had a recent piece with actual data suggesting that it makes a huge difference.
Relatedly, they had piece on antibody testing in the Bay Area (a video) and it turns out that very few people in the Bay Area have had it asymptomatically. I don't think the notion that there's a large population of asymptomatic people out there transmitting it is going to hold up. I think it might wind up being presymptomatic carriers and superspreader events.
That's great, Theo!
Thanks, shrift, that's a good idea. I know they say there will be measures in place but I do not yet know what they actually are. Maybe I will talk to our Safety guy directly before going back.
