yay msbell for Mac calling!!
home lab kits we'd been hoping to deploy for the course are no longer on the table because the the state university system is apparently broke, at least as far as getting equipment goes
Yikes, that's going to be rough!
Fingers crossed the test is negative, Theo!
Good job, Mac!
I was just sitting down to bitch that I'm switching from, "Oh, I'll just put your dirty dishes in the empty dishwasher" to "let's see how long you'll leave your dirty dishes..." I was going to resent this even more since I don't HAVE children and everything...
When I heard innocent roommate hitting "Oh, I'll just put..." so I jumped up and helped him.
We left the hand washing, however. We have some edge.
In What's Actually Upsetting Me news, however, my mother's older sister has been hospitalized with COVID.
My father is one of eight, my mother one of four. I have a lot of loved ones in their sixties and seventies. We knew this was going to happen and now it has. The other shoe dropping is no relief as there are so many more shoes. My mother is 800 miles away and shattered. My aunt is another 900 hundred and there is nothing anyone can do.
She hasn't been intubated, so we're hanging onto that.
My mother, God love her, is doing an excellent job of not leaving the house.
Love to your family, Trudy
Latest word from the County is that restaurants can potentially re-open late next week, that is still being decided. News reports were premature.
Thinking of your family, Trudy, and wishing the best.
msbelle, so YAY! for Mac and you. I'm smiling all over my face for you.
Trudy, lots of ~ma to your aunt and family. This is so difficult.
And yay, Mac! good human beingness.
In sadder news, my sister and her partner had to put to sleep one of their dogs this week. The dog was only five but with lots of health issues. In the last month there has been a deterioration to the point where the dog hallucinated most of the time and banged her head and limbs repeatedly into walls and objects. They tried every possible treatment, but there was no choice but to put her to sleep. The situation is heartbreaking.
Health~ma for your aunt, Trudy.
I'm sorry about the poor dog, Shir.
Recovery~ma for your aunt, Trudy. It is so hard to not be able to hold hands with our loved ones. One of the cruelest parts of this crisis in many ways.
Sorry about the pup, Shir. So hard to watch them suffer.
Kids have their house inspection today. Talking a more reasonable month for closing now. I thought a couple weeks was super quick!
Best thoughts to your aunt and whole family, Trudy.
In other news, I just found out that young Golda Meir and I have the same facial expression in photographs. It's the "I understand it's necessary but it's hell and I want it to end, are we done?" expression.
(To illustrate my point, I sent her picture to a friend who thought I was talking nonsense and they replied with "no no, you're beautiful, it's just a bad picture of you!". To which I laughed and laughed).
That's wonderful, msbelle. So glad to hear it.
