What is even happening?

Theo, did you get results from your most recent test?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Cindy, not yet. This is the longest it's taken -- it's been two days for the first two, and they finished on Tuesday this week, so I expected to hear today.

This is a special program -- I can understand if the lab is backed up for people who have a higher chance of being positive. The testing for the nursing homes, etc., is for everyone with no regard to symptoms, so it's testing rather a lot of people who will hopefully be found negative.

If we could ramp up the testing to the point where everyone got tested once a week, even, we could do a lot more with isolation and quarantining and get things back to where some of the lock down could be be safely lifted.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think it was actually my city council meeting and I missed it. Like I usually do.

Glad you will keep getting paid, DX!

I ran out of red beans (and I was so sure my pantry was well stocked! Turns out I had cooked all the red beans and I finally finished that batch) so I have pink beans and andouille in the instant pot for tomorrow

They just opened testing for anyone who ants it here, symptoms or not, no referral, your insurance will be charged but if you don't have insurance it's free. I think it''s fairly likely I had a mild case and am now clear and they aren't testing for antibodies so I don't think I'm going to do it unless I develop a reason to.

Hope you hear soon, Theo

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

It's such a cluster, with revenue way down AND expenses way up!

yep, same for government. i talked with my co-worker today about what she has been doing. Apparently every department has their budgets returned and is being told to cut cut cut. We had juts sent in our final budget and gotten approval when I started, so this is every department re-evaluating next fiscal year.

I had been venting to her about my mountains of paperwork from that one department and she was welcome to the distraction because she is in her own nightmare of work.

I am glad to be taking something super time consuming and monotonous off their plate so they can deal with the budget.

yay msbell for Mac calling!!

home lab kits we'd been hoping to deploy for the course are no longer on the table because the the state university system is apparently broke, at least as far as getting equipment goes

Yikes, that's going to be rough!

Fingers crossed the test is negative, Theo!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Good job, Mac!

I was just sitting down to bitch that I'm switching from, "Oh, I'll just put your dirty dishes in the empty dishwasher" to "let's see how long you'll leave your dirty dishes..." I was going to resent this even more since I don't HAVE children and everything...

When I heard innocent roommate hitting "Oh, I'll just put..." so I jumped up and helped him.

We left the hand washing, however. We have some edge.

In What's Actually Upsetting Me news, however, my mother's older sister has been hospitalized with COVID.

My father is one of eight, my mother one of four. I have a lot of loved ones in their sixties and seventies. We knew this was going to happen and now it has. The other shoe dropping is no relief as there are so many more shoes. My mother is 800 miles away and shattered. My aunt is another 900 hundred and there is nothing anyone can do.

She hasn't been intubated, so we're hanging onto that.

My mother, God love her, is doing an excellent job of not leaving the house.

Love to your family, Trudy

Latest word from the County is that restaurants can potentially re-open late next week, that is still being decided. News reports were premature.
