Ooh and it's the weekend so it's not like you can bring them in tomorrow. Doh!
I stayed awake way too late last night not realizing what time it was (not sure why I wasn't sleepy?) and then woke up with awful stupid pain (nerve pains to my toes—my whole foot and half my calf are still weirdly half-asleep feeling)
Ugh, juliana. What a pain. Happy Birthday Peanut! I wish we could have our day off together.
I'm sorry, Juliana. What a disappointment for Peanut. Too bad M couldn't bring the cupcakes to his work. I'm sure the guys doing the sprinkler system would gobble them down.
DH gets a smoke day today. He gets to work from home, so we get to hear each other coughing and snuffling as we go about our business.
We have a "work from home if you have to because your kid's school is closed" day today, but also our department Thanksgiving Potluck, so that'll be weird.
ETA sorry your day is too many cupcakes not enough adults, juliana.
Local air quality is actually better this morning, though - down to 185!
WFH means I've been at my "desk" since 7am and SO ready to log off now. But the rest of my dept is just rolling into the office so I can't.
Also my phone has gone from randomly shutting down at 30% battery to randomly shutting down to 80% battery which means I effectively have a landline that just happens to be shaped like a cell phone.
You know how we keep advising each other to wrap ourselves in bubble wrap after an injury? well, at the CMA Awards, Brad Paisley gave Carrie Underwood a bubble wrap dress (since she had a seriously bad fall last year). I think it's a one of a kind ... but there might be a market for it.

That's good. We're down to... 225?
I'm WFH due to the air quality, although I do have an appointment at the salon this afternoon so I'll have to slap on a mask and go outside anyway.
I
t heart
my respirator.
Also the concept of the bubble wrap dress.
My carrot and chickpea salad turned out to be kind of ideal for last minute make and bring to potluck - bought a bag of matchstick carrots, 2 cans of garbanzo beans, a bunch of fresh dill, a small amount of bulk roasted pepitas, olive oil and sherry vinegar before work, dumped it all together with some minimal prep (rinsing the chickpeas, cutting the dill with scissors, guessing how much is 1/4 C of olive oil) et voila, salad. I'm just assuming it'll taste okay, but how bad could it be?
