She's from Colombia, Zen. So they have all sorts of delicious tropical fruits dirt cheap, but terrible apples apparently!

A woman who used to work in my office was from Central America (forget which country) and she once told me about her first experience - well, experiences - with peaches. The first one, she cut open and saw the pit ... seemingly, with tropical fruit, if the pit isn't nice and smooth, there's something wrong with it (going bad, insects, whatever) so she threw it away. Tried again with another peach and saw the same thing. I think she threw away three peaches before she asked and was told that the not-smooth pit was fine.
JZ, here's a link for a no-sew mask, if you get desperate. [link]
I think you have to send an email to get the pattern, but here's a link from when I did that: [link]
3-minute video: [link]
There's also an extended version on the page at the first link in this post.
The woman's website also has some sewn versions, I think. It's a major homemade mask rabbit hole. Just scroll down the home page: [link]
I did get 2 masks completed last night and another cut out, so at least that got done. Goal is to get 2 more done tonight. Then I think I have a family of 5 to do and I will be caught up with requests.
I feel like someone here asked for one that I am missing.
I almost never go out so I've just been using bandannas.
I know that knits are not the best, but my tied-up t-shirt part is so comfortable! And I can put something between the two layers if I'm going somewhere. I'm not that pressed when I'm just going for a walk. ALTHOUGH I still saw a couple of people out with no mask this morning when they became mandatory here yesterday.
Drinks wise I've only made dark and stormies and Paloma-ish (grapefruit soda and tequila and lime).
I wanted to get grapefruit soda yesterday, but I already had too many groceries! Stupid walking to the store.
She was also flabbergasted at some of the many tropical fruits we really don't get. They have such good fruit there but it didn't occur to me they don't get good apples or cherries or blueberries (she's never had those! And only canned peaches!)
That is so interesting! You kind of forget that some things are still regional (even if it's just about demand).
People who are wearing gloves, I think, are only doing it as a reminder to self, or do not understand cross-contamination.
The latter, I think. There are some places around here that have signs up that you aren't allowed in WITH gloves.

t obligatory Ohio has food year-round. t /obligatory
I had a whole discussion with some coworkers about how globes are not magic like that!
ETA: gloves, not globes
I use bandannas, too. I have several in different colors, so I can coordinate with what I'm wearing.
AUGH. I donated blood last Thursday and had some kind of allergic reaction, presumably to the antiseptic, so I have what's basically a mosquito bite around where the needle went in and I ignored it for a while and am now using a steroid cream on it and it still itches like a mofo and is slowly driving me insane.
