Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I am feeling like an excellent neighbor because I just delivered margaritas to my neighbors.

Man, I need neighbors like that.

I am sitting here with my headset on until 9 pm, waiting for any of my students to webex in for online office hours, and feeling a bit like the Maytag repairman. Had exactly zero out of 100 check in from my uni course this afternoon. I did have two from the community college (out of 17) earlier this evening, so it hasn't been a complete waste.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Dude, Jesse, you are the BEST neighbor.

that said, I'm not short on alcohol, but I would love a fancy cocktail made with 7 ingredients. I can half-ass a manhattan or an old-fashioned or a margarita, but I would love to get a Carter Beats the Devil or one of the designer cocktails they make at some of my favorite places. I was looking at some of the restaurant websites, but most of the to-go cocktails are in units of 2 or 4, which is more than I really need...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's what I've been saying! I know I could make infused syrups and shrubs and whatever bullshit, and between my mother and me we have a bunch of kinds of liquor, but I want SOMEONE ELSE to do it!

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Feeling hard all ya'll dealing with bullshit. Right now my bullshit feels very internal -- I've been having way more lows than usual, which is understandable, but still very frustrating. My shit is negatively together. It is frustrating.

Fancy cocktails do sound nice.

I did acquire flour, however -- one of my favorite bakeries is open for call in and counter service, and they had flour directly from their mill bagged for purchase. I have no idea what I will use it for any time soon, but I do feel kind of shiny for having it.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

The yeast I ordered ages ago, and the bread mixes I ordered because I couldn't get yeast, all came in on the same day. Of course, and I have also lost the early urges I had to bake. I just want to go to a bakery and have everything made for me thank you very much.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I made blackberry-vanilla syrup today for blackberry old fashioneds. [link]

The syrup seemed a bit vanilla heavy, so I upped the blackberries. I doubt I'll regret that. Anyway, that's for my team's zoom happy hour tomorrow. I've been drinking with my coworkers way more since I stopped physically working with them. Probably because I'm a lightweight, booze wise, and now I don't have to drive home.

There are definitely worse things than only drinking at home!

And that sounds delicious.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I tried half of a Trazodone last night around 7, and started feeling really sleepy around 8, which was pretty amazing. (OTOH, I've been sleeping really badly and probably running something of a deficit.)

Definitely not as awake as perhaps would be desired today, though caffeine helped some.

Whee! Science experiments with my own brain!
