Natter 76: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Foaminess
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I'm sure things would be much different if you two weren't sharing the house with Matt's mom, askye. It sounds like having her there has brought up all of Matt's non-productive defense mechanisms.
I made a me-shopping expedition out to Star Market (the big one in Porter Square Cambridge) which wasn't overly crowded. A large number of people still don't get the concept of one-way aisles, but most were wearing masks. Also, they had flour! And for the first time in yoinks, they had Clorox wipes!
Unfortunately, there were no Mallomars. It's STILL Mallomar season, damn it.
I haven't been to a grocery store in weeks and haven't gone to the farmer's market in 2 weeks, relying on delivery/take out food and 2 grocery deliveries.
My house is a mess though, like I haven't put anything up in 2 weeks (not exactly true, but kinda how it looks). Makes me want to sit on the couch again all day today (that is what I did yesterday), BUT I am not going to do that.
- shower
- hang curtain rods and shelf in bathroom
- wash dishes
- take out stinky trash
- vacuum
- sew more masks (have 9 on backlog)
- put away clothes
- do load of laundry
- clear off some of kitchen counter or table
- cook something for meals this week
these are a few of the things I should do today.
Got the YouTube of my nephew's orals (with the audio not right, so I can only hear him, but it's something) and his topic is whether Kant and Quantum Physics are compatible. This kid.
Wow, -t, he sounds great.
I have two video chats today to get some socializing in, although yesterday I hand-delivered homemade English muffins (really just rolls) to my niece and a friend. I have a list of things to do right now, but it's nice to just lounge on the couch with a cup of tea.
This morning I climbed the big hill near my house, and when I looked out into the bay, I saw quite a lot of container ships just hanging out in San Francisco Bay. Our global distribution system is fucked, y'all.
Anyone who needs some calming British tv: the first season of Foyle's War is free on Amazon for the next few days.
We have a new great-niece as of 1:45 this morning! Nephew J. started a group text to the family when they went to the hospital and he was really good about updating us. By the time I went to bed, his wife had started active labor, but I couldn't stay awake. When the kitty woke me up at 7 yodeling for food, I checked my phone and saw that we had a new great-niece. When I got back in bed, Tim sleepily rolled over and mumbled "...izzzere a baby yet?"
Nephew J. is going to do a brief Zoom call later so we can meet the newest Beckmeyer.
Oh wow, congrats to them!
I was going to make rolls between church and band today, but someone finally got me to start watching Bon Appetit videos last night, so I'm doing that instead.
There are now 9 great-niecephews, which is awesome. The oldest is 10 now, which blows my goddamn mind.

Really? We're receiving containers and haven't been told of any slow downs or stoppages at the port (although that information might not have filtered down to me because information I need to know often does not get to me (then again maybe this is something I will hear about on Monday)). It's such a delicate dance, though, and there are so many points that are clearly disrupted - that there should be backlog at the ports should not surprise me.
Mmmm, Foyle's War, that does seem like appropriate entertainment to consume right now.
Baby! Woohoo!
Dang, Tep, you've got an extensive extended family!
Congrats on the new great-niece, Teppy and Tim. We have eight with one on the way, so you're edging us out. Our oldest is 14, but he's an outlier.
Congrats to your nephew too, -t.

Jesse, are these on YouTube or somewhere else?
askye, I keep thinking of you and hope it gets easier and that you stay safe.
