Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

People!! I made eggplant parm for the first time ever. It is one of my favorite things that I get out often. The only reason I made it was because there was an eggplant in my veggie box. It was sooooo good! Like way better than I expected. Yum!

Nice! That's so satisfying.

I spent the weekend feeling like I had "error 400: bad request" blinking in a DOS font above my head. I'm on the other side of it, but it's like I got whammied by the situation at large all at once and had to hard reset.

I hear that.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I've been making fabric masks, but it's somewhat slow going for now. If anyone wants some and is willing to wait at least a week to get them, I'll send them to you for the cost of materials and shipping (roughly $2 per mask, plus $8 for shipping any number of them), and you can donate whatever you think is appropriate to your local food bank.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Ooh, I was gonna offer to hold your beer, Theo, but I'm ready to be an active participant in that action. Where do I sign up?

I'm so sorry about your residents. We keep losing the good ones. I want a few lot of Trump and his cronies to choke on their own fluids. Sooner the better. I hate this administration has woken the wolverine (not the character, the animal) in me.

esse, thanks for that link! ETA: Thanks, Hil. Profile addy ok?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, Theo, I'm sorry. My heart goes out to you and the residents. Hang in there as best you can.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Vibing so hard for your residents, Theo, especially the one who just had to leave for the hospital. It is so, so hard. If I could send my antibodies straight to them all via the internet, I would be doing it right now.

I don't know why today particularly, but my heart is unusually heavy and every breath feels like an effort--not physically, just emotionally, like I have to be careful because any random breath might turn for no reason into a bout of ugly-crying.

I've been getting back to visiting the housebound mother of my high school friend who died a year and change ago, and she's been introducing me to due South, so I am choosing to blame the emotional lability on the wholesome darkness and comical sadness of S1. Vecchio has just started to pivot from pure comic relief to complexity and nuance and Fraser's positively Tick-level degree of stalwart obliviousness is beginning to crack. So it's probably just that.

Also, thanks to Laura I now crave eggplant parmesan, which I don't think I've had in decades.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

due South! How marvelous JZ. That's a lovely show. My only complaint is that no way is hell is Dief an actual wolf, and I think he's played by at least two different Siberian huskies over the course of the show.

Let Shrift & Dana know when you need some fic: there is awesome fic for that show.

My niece's BF just dropped off two bags of jalapeno cheese curls, a bag of apples, and a half a pound of KERRY GOLD. Lovely.

If I can't get prefab spreadable butter, I'ma make my own: let butter sit on the counter all night, then run it through the food processor with some olive oil. that ought to do it, I figure...

My friend's mom is apparently a HUGE OG fan, and her greatest claim to fame is that the cast and crew saw some of her fanart and she got flown up to Canada and through a series of improbable events found herself spending several weeks teaching an actual Mountie the art of portraiture. The main room in her apartment is full of RIDICULOUSLY good sketches of Paul Gross, and she has a large stash of original scripts.

It's so charming it is almost slaying me. We just finished the episode with a very young Jane Krakowski, and I am utterly bowled over by how effortlessly she nailed the Bringing Up Baby era Kate Hepburn/everything Carole Lombard ever did screwball comedy vibe. That is in no way an easy thing to do without coming across as somewhere between obnoxious and odious, but she made it look as easy as breathing. I know she's successful and content in both her monetary rewards and her creative endeavors, but why is she not an internationally recognized screwball romcom goddess?
