I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Dammit, apparently switching between apps on my phone now means losing my post. Supportive words to all of you!

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

JZ, when Mom's mother passed away, she didn't find a secret safe, but she was finding little caches of money the whole time she was going through the house. And it took weeks to go through - Nana had a metric boatload of STUFF in the house. So much so that Mom's been on a keep-tidy kick ever since; she's determined me and my sister won't have to go through that.

What is even happening?

Amy, what a P.I.T.A.

They're virus testing all the nursing homes etc today in Cambridge, residents and staff alike. Here's hoping we all pass the test....

Fingers crossed, Theo

I look more rad than Lutheranism

The most recent email from my FiL's retirement community says they have no cases of Covid-19, but it didn't say that they were testing the residents, either. So I'm assuming that they don't have any residents showing active symptoms (which is a good thing), but can't verify that with test results.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We're all dressed up for the funeral. Matilda is wearing her black Doc Martens because her Papou gave them to her.

I don't have any black pants and you know what? During a pandemic you can't just go out and buy them.

Herding cats for fun

I'm sure no one will object to the fashion faux pas if you wear blue jeans.

Thinking many good thoughts to your family today.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

The medical team tested nearly all the residents (~90ish plus the carers who were present in their rooms) before they ran out of test kits, so they will be back on Monday to test the staff.

Even if I tested negative today, there's no guarantee I wouldn't come down with it next week. But at least we'll have a baseline now that testing is finally available.

I was talking with one of the residents, she's got 20% of regular lung function and pretty much expects that she's going to die if she gets it, and is doing her utmost, including staying in her room, washing down anything that comes into it, et cetera.

I stopped by the liquor store special for her, and picked up a four-pack of Sutter Home wine. Not exactly drinking her way through the crisis, but if if the equivalent of two glasses of wine per little bottle gets her to sleep OK, I'm all for it.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

They have altered the schedule at work again to only have two people per day in the lab. Which means I'm only going in to work two days next week. Still supposed to work from home, however much I can accomplish with Mr. S around.

Oh, this hit me in the feels

I hope you have gray or any dark pants, Hec, but if not no one will care

I discovered that Postmates will deliver Walgreens and ordered a bunch of stuff. Got 4 things out of probably a dozen ordered, but those were oatmeal, Diet Coke, and 2 types of chocolate so I feel like I did pretty well! Been spending my work-holiday (every year it seems weird to me to get Good Friday off, this year more so, but I will take it!) watching One Dsy at a Time and making a dent in my dishwashing backlog.
