I'm not evil again. Why does everyone think that?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Maria, I would if I thought they would listen, but they are stubborn. I'm sure if my cousin, the nurse says it's fine, they all think it's fine. Meanwhile, I'm trying to get ltc psyched about an Easter at home. On the plus side, I can make lamb, which most of the people I usually spend Easter with will not eat.

What is even happening?

Matt, I'm glad you and yours are safe.

My dad is unchanged... which is good, comparatively. Slightly better than yesterday, and he's now been started on an experimental course of the malaria and lupus treatment. So now we wait for tomorrow and see how he responds to that and to the sedation that's letting his body rest and recuperate.

JZ, I'm glad for the comparatively good news. How are you feeling?

And my aunt was yelling at my mother to still have a big Easter dinner because she was told you can still see "your tribe".

UGH sj. You know, I had some sympathy for my 21-year-old two weeks ago, when I had to take an hour to convince her that she couldn't go to her friend's house anymore, because she's 21, and because it was two weeks ago.

The responsible medical experts who haven't dedicated their mouths to pleasuring Trump are saying not to mix households. Our "tribes" right now are the people with whom we live. That's it. Tell mom to stand her ground.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

sj, we call that "testa dura" in our family. It's so frustrating all around. I have no idea what Easter dinner is going to look like for us. This is unprecedented for our family.

Sorry, sj. This hadn't posted when I started my previous reply. I didn't mean to pile on with a bunch of stuff you already know.

Laura, I'm concerned for you and your family, and your SIL because none of that is proper social distancing. The precautions she's taking are not enough based upon CDC recommendations. We really need to flatten the curve.

Laura, I'm glad Maria said something. We don't want anything to happen to you or your family.

Mom is totally ignoring her sister. We usually have Easter with my step family, and we won't be doing so this year, but I fear my aunt, cousins, and grandfather will be having dinner together.

Maria, that phrase works. Especially since this is the Italian half of the family.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I got a look at the damage today while going out to grocery shop. In addition to the mall and airport, on the two busiest streets in town a dry cleaner, big automotive tire place, insurance agent, Ashley Home Store, and Cheddars' suffered major damage/collapse and the Super 8 is just GONE. Kohls, Madden Crab, and numerous other places had signage and roof damage. The final count is 22 injuries, 2 hospitalizations, and NO DEATHS. I don't understand how that's even possible, there were houses and apartments right next to the dry cleaning place that got torn apart.

Here's some recorded footage of it happening, from a store on one of those two main drags: [link]

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Matt, that's terrifying. What an absolute miracle no one died.

Matt, so glad you're safe. No deaths is a miracle, especially considering the damage.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Yikes, Matt!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

No deaths! That's wonderful and amazing.
