Natter 76: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Foaminess

Yay for the good news on JZ's father! JZ, how are you doing? Are your symptoms still mild?
Cashmere, yikes! It sounds like there aren't any projects that have been postponed forever "until we have time." You could always lean into the ridiculousness of the situation. Maybe take a few decks of cards to work and organize a bridge tournament?
I'm working from home for the duration. Catching up on some of the stuff that has been waiting on the DVR for a year or more, including reruns of The Partridge Family and several other sitcoms. Cooking a bit. And using Duolingo to teach myself a little Czech.
Good morning! TCG is in the office today, and ltc and I are moving slow. How is everyone doing today?

Super tempting, right?
I hope they sort their shit out by today. I'm lucky I have benefits to burn. Lots of library workers are so part time they have next to no benefits and some have to keep working for their meager insurance but the foot dragging slowness of the county on this issue makes me angry for them.
A friend of mine invited me for a long walk today so we are going to walk 5 miles (6' from each other). She met two cows yesterday named "Bruno" and "Mars" according to their ear tags so I might get to meet them.
Good morning! Today I need to do some housework. Housekeeper didn't come this week because she had a cold and she wanted to be cautious. So I'll do the best I can, but it isn't my greatest skill.
They say FL is next hot spot, which not good with our government. At least my county and city are serious.
Also, worried about New Orleans. I don't like this worrying thing at all.

We took a walk the other day specifically to try to meet the neighborhood goats (Elvis Parsley and Dolly Parsnip), and they were nowhere to be seen. I was deprived of goats!
OMG the ruminant names! So cute!
Y'all, the VP of Operations left last week and the head of IT is going to be gone after this week. All independent of the pandemic, in the works for a while apparently, but our whole organization is ready to fall apart!
There is so much disruption, -t! Having a pandemic on top of all the usual craziness that is this life is just not very well planned. Get it together universe!
JZ and family - I hope dad continues to recover. Also hope your symptoms remain mild. David, could you sleep on Matilda's bed and have her take the couch? kids seem less bothered by sleeping surfaces.
Trudy - I hope it is just allergies for the house, but better safe than sorry.
Cash - I think my county might be similar. Anyone that can telework has been told to telework, but anyone else must either be at work or use time. We are letting people borrow time and also give time to co-workers if needed.
Telework applications seem to have slowed today, so I am not sure what I will be able to do. I sent an email to my Dept asking and have heard nothing back. If no one else is in the office from my Dept, I could go in and stamp a signature on all these applications and scan in those page to the new electronic filing system that I have set up.
I walked laps in the backyard this morning. It was a nice break from this morning of waking up to speakerphone calls from matt's mom and then him deciding to turn of the tv and then immediately going to take a shower with music playing. I asked him to mute the tv (why? he asks, why because you won't be watching it so whats the point of having the sound on). PArt of my problem is living with 2 people who have to have sound around them to feel comfortable.
Charleston SC has issued a 2 week shelter in place for the city but McMasters hasn't done anything further about the state.
Was very happy to see a relief package has been approved by Congress. Talked to Dad yesterday and he was kind of frustrated at the Democrats for not signing things but I explained they were fighting for oversight so that business couldn't get bailout money and then use it for stock buy backs or immediately fire people so they could gain more profits. He grudgingly said he was on the Dems side for that. This is a huge victory -- 1 that we are able to talk about politics at all and 2- him even acknowledging that he agrees with anything from Democrats.
And I just got a peek at my paycheck-- they did not reduce my hourly pay! At least not for this check and between that and the way they manipulated our hours for commission I got a bigger paycheck than my last one. My next one will be smaller because no commission and fewer hours but this is a huge relief.
