Five goddamn days until they get his COVID-19 results, because they're not yet set up for in-house testing and have to send everything to the county DPH (he's not in SF), which is swamped.

Trudy, it sounds like y'all are doing about as much as you can. I hope none of your symptoms get worse.
Oh no, JZ! Poor you, your poor dad, poor everyone.
Yikes, Trudy. Sounds like staying in is all you can do.
sj and everyone else who can, maybe just sit outside alone for 15 minutes? For me at least, a change of scenery helps.
TCG is taking ltc outside. I'm going to rest while they're outside because I'm not sleeping very well.
JZ, I'm so sorry.
Good update: Just talked to the ICU attending after rounds. She says his vitals all look good and his chest x-ray is totally clear. Over the next few days they'll be considering moving him off the vent to a less invasive form of support. No clear timetable yet, because they're still waiting for a lot of respiratory test results, but she said if he continues to look this good they may try him off the vent even before getting all the results.
and his chest x-ray is totally clear
That's the key right there. Really encouraging.
Thank you for the good news update. I'm praying that he continues to move in the right direction.
Oh, thank god, JZ. That's good news.
I know my situation is way better than many people's, but I'm having the hardest time doing anything. I need to file for the last two weeks' unemployment on Sunday, and I tried to do it today, but the state's website has completely crashed under the new load.
I also have work I could be doing. Or I could be cleaning up the house. Or anything that isn't internet and TV. But it's just not happening. I feel like I'm about 10 minutes away from a panic attack at any given time, and I don't even have any family members who are sick.
Oh no, Zmayhems!
