"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

The bakery we go to is closing. I was hoping they were still considered essential because we have to interact with less people to get bread there, and it is better bread.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I've had people try to call me "Toddy" (shudder).

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

The consequences of professors ask to open cameras + having cats + recorded live lessons = my cats are now well documented on university's servers.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I'm so grumpy already. I don't know how I'm going to last ten more days without chewing off my own leg or my family smothering me in my sleep.

Ohio's stay-at-home stint starts at midnight tonight, so Tim's at work today, but I can tell you that 2 weeks of having him at home while I still work 40+ hours a week is going to end with me yeeting him into space. But he's also going to lose his goddamn mind being stuck at home, because he is 100% an extrovert, just a very, very chill one, but he needs time with people-not-his-hermit-wife. I do feel bad for all the extroverts stuck at home, and I hope their loved ones don't yeet them into space.

Tim's company is actually considered "essential" in several areas (for one thing, they have government contracts for some stuff), so they aren't closing. If employees need to stay home, it has to be unpaid, but their job will be protected. I told Tim (despite knowing that I will yeet him into space after being at home together for 2 weeks) that he should still take 2 weeks off. He's high risk in 2 different categories, and he needs to be at home with his surly introvert wife. We're exceedingly lucky that we can absorb a 2-week hit to his paycheck with no problem. But him in the hospital for the second time in 3 months would be WAY worse.

So despite my preemptive threats to yeet my dearest into space, I still want him home.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I'm kinda grateful to live alone now: I don't have to worry about navigating someone else's exposures. And I'm a bit of an introvert. OTOH, I do need SOME social contact....

JZ, I'm so sorry to hear you're sick, I hope you all can survive the isolation without too much disruption.

I am supposed to be WFH although I've done very little this morning. My team is trying to figure out how to work on our projects when the network won't let us log in and the agency doesn't want us emailing our files to ourselves...

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Apparently our staying open is due to a letter from Homeland Security confirming our essential, um, -ness? This is all very very weird.

I hope you and Tim survive each other ok, Tep. I think you are right and he should stay home even though it will be hard - hard to believe he just had freaking heart surgery, that seems like it happened a long time ago, maybe in a galaxy far far away.

Only 2 months ago. How is that even possible?

Now tagless for your comfort.

I will be reading a story book on Facebook live at 2pm central time (3pm EST) if anyone wants to tune in with their kiddos.

Our wings are not tired.

Anyone trying to call ltc any shortened version of her name will get an earful from her.

Note to self, call her little tea cup and not ltc!

I have to admit to a great deal of grumpiness as a result of all this, and I'm not even sleeping on a couch. So much disruption and uncertainty. Grumpy is better than anxious maybe?
