'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

In a weird sort of turnaround, the staff is now using the big dining room for lunch, each of us sitting at a large table well separated. The acoustics are actually pretty good, even with the separation, and it's a good thing to be sitting and comparing notes. The office staff is meeting individually with each resident to discuss the menu this week and address concerns/get feedback.

I fell in with a good crew, I think, and if I have to have something to distract me during this crisis and feel like I'm making a difference, this is it.

(Or as I was putting it earlier: "The good news is that I have a job. The bad news is that I can't work from home doing it.")

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I'm pretty sure Ryan is like 6 years old

Right there with you.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That is good to hear, Theo! I'm glad y'all are finding ways to manage.

Thrive to spite them

Theo I'm glad you are with a good group of people and that they have you as part of the team to help the residents.

So there seems to be an idea that since I'm off work until at least the 30th and I'm getting paid I should go to the beach, in Florida. And while I would LOVE to do that I also do not want to drive from SC to FL spreading germs and avoiding my family when I'm in FL because I don't anyone to get infected and I don't want to be exposed to all the other states. I mean, yes, this would be an ideal time to be at the beach and I may have to use up all my PTO for store closings depending on how long we are closed but .. it's just not responsible.

Also if I go I'm going to want to see my Dad and my aunt and my grandma and it's bad enough being an hour away and not seeing my mom

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Would whoever is playing Jumanji please put the board away?

The Salt Lake airport is closed (the air traffic control tower was damaged by the quake). Jim and I have spoken with the folks we know and they're okay, but done with aftershocks.

Our wings are not tired.

At this point I am expecting to get an early hurricane.

My doctors are making me crazy. All the doctors and nurses want remote access, from a huge assortment of platforms. I know they believe I know everything tech off the top of my head, but I have to research how to use your Chromebook to remote access the office. Then another one wants me to stay connected to her while she explores signing up for Skype. First, Skype is not my software, second, your 85 year old patient may not have the capability to do a visit that way. Wiped out.

Isn't the deal with Jumanji that you can't just stop playing, you have to win?

We're supposed to adjust our sales forecast for the next few months to anticipate the effect of the "COVID-19 situation" as we are apparently referring to it. Bwahahahahaha, yeah, lemme just find where I put that crystal ball...

information libertarian

I reached out to my 18 direct reports today, and spoke to 15 of them on the phone. (I texted everyone first to ask if it was a good time to call.)

I am an introvert who dislikes the phone, and I am TIRED. But everyone is healthy and it was good to hear their voices.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

My direct supervisor realized that our setup was not ideal for the times(we all sit along one table, basically shoulder to shoulder) so she set up a schedule where people take turns staying home. Tomorrow is my turn, so we'll see how that goes.(Not working from home, just staying home)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I didn't see the original, but based on the remake with Mr. The Rock, yes, you have to win. Sometimes using sexy dance fighting.
