'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Today we got even more restricted at work -- NO program items where more than 5 people gather, and NO dining room (which as you can guess is the major socializing venue and biggest comfort item.) Trays taken up to their rooms instead.

We're going to do some one-on-one programming, set up video conference calls on residence computers, and so on.

Oh, and the post office isn't letting the mailman enter the building -- he has to leave the mail in a bucket outside, and it gets sorted by us. But we don't have access to the locked mail boxes, because those are Federal Property. Interim solution is to use the in-house mail cubbies, but really that isn't a good idea because a number of residents don't see well enough to figure out which is theirs, so there's all kinds of letters being walked-off-with, so it looks like we'll just take the mail up to each room.

At least so far everyone is in good health. Nightmare scenario is like the Oregon nursing home where one by one the residents go down with pneumonia, and the staff is reduced to a skeleton crew because they're quarantined.

Elsewhere, on Facebook I told somebody who was loudly declaring this was a Dem plot to go gargle with bleach.

Punishingly Intricate

I had an 18-hour day yesterday dealing with work COVID stuff (plus another 5 hours this morning/afternoon). I'm definitely staring into the middle distance while being anxious for the remainder of the day.

Happy Anniversary, Laura and Brendon!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Happy Anniversary, Laura & Brendon!

Congrats, Maria!

They are shutting down Wisconsin. The Moose at the gate should have told you we're closed.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Just got off a conference call with one of our retailers. Feels weird to be discussing inventory levels and store traffic, but the presumption is that everything will stabilize eventually, I suppose.

Good luck, askye. I hope the payees of your bills are understanding and helpful.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Happy anniversary to Laura and Brendon!

My team at work is brainstorming ideas for us to maintain our snarky sense of camaraderie. So far we have a group Spotify playlist ("WOW, you can tell which songs Jillian added"), and some sort of "MTV Cribs" Zoom meetings for people to show what their home working environment looks like.

Our wings are not tired.

He's an autonomous adult, damn it, which means he gets to make this stupid-ass decision.

I say this to myself very often.

To celebrate the anniversary we are staying home and eating corned beef and cabbage!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I love corned beef, but I married a vegetarian, so tonight's dinner is vegetarian chili and cornbread.

My work from home situation is exactly as it always has been (so no issues like DX!) but my anxiety is very high. I probably need to go outside and take a walk in the sunshine. Mostly I'm feeling very single. And very pet-less too. Wishing I had a doggo. And a girlfriend. (And a root!)

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Happy anniversary, Laura and Brendon!

My anxiety is super high. My FT job situation is stable (minus the travel), so my day to day life is essentially the same. The worrying comes in for my sister and father, and ND and Pix, and all of our Buffista service industry folks.

Yes I know it's strange that an Italian makes amazing corned beef and cabbage, but it's true. Each year we usually have an AYCE buffet with corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and Irish soda bread. Obviously not happening this year, but my dad still made some so that we can offer it to go.
