Happy anniversary to Laura and Brendon!
My team at work is brainstorming ideas for us to maintain our snarky sense of camaraderie. So far we have a group Spotify playlist ("WOW, you can tell which songs Jillian added"), and some sort of "MTV Cribs" Zoom meetings for people to show what their home working environment looks like.
He's an autonomous adult, damn it, which means he gets to make this stupid-ass decision.
I say this to myself very often.
To celebrate the anniversary we are staying home and eating corned beef and cabbage!
I love corned beef, but I married a vegetarian, so tonight's dinner is vegetarian chili and cornbread.
My work from home situation is exactly as it always has been (so no issues like DX!) but my anxiety is very high. I probably need to go outside and take a walk in the sunshine. Mostly I'm feeling very single. And very pet-less too. Wishing I had a doggo. And a girlfriend. (And a root!)
Happy anniversary, Laura and Brendon!
My anxiety is super high. My FT job situation is stable (minus the travel), so my day to day life is essentially the same. The worrying comes in for my sister and father, and ND and Pix, and all of our Buffista service industry folks.
Yes I know it's strange that an Italian makes amazing corned beef and cabbage, but it's true. Each year we usually have an AYCE buffet with corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and Irish soda bread. Obviously not happening this year, but my dad still made some so that we can offer it to go.
I tossed it in the instant pot this year so we'll see. This is the first year in about 35 years that I am eating corned beef! That is pretty exciting. I love cabbage and potatoes so looking forward to that part too.
Happy Anniversary, Laura and Brendon!
Congratulations, Maria and medicguy!
Best of Good Health wishes to all of us!
Okay, time to go stare into the middle distance some more....
My workplace, the whole county, went to WFH if you can.
Today we got in remote access and telework forms for most employees in our Dept, but some employees do not have home computers, so they will be coming in.
It is very frustrating for me that in the dept head meetings we are having each time a new announcement is made there are people saying things like "employees a & b can't wfh, they have nothing to do" or "if people are not coming in, my employees won't have work" - THAT IS A PROBLEM when all these people are office staff. It is not as if they are parks and rec field workers. These are the Dept Heads and they are having to be told by newbies like me that then the employees should be investigating and researching ways to change our processes to where we are less dependent on paper and doing every! single! damn! thing! face to face. Webex, electronic signatures, secure websites with individual logins to check off approvals, distance learning, voice over powerpoints with tests at the end for basic intro classes.... JUST OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD.
This is a huge opportunity for us to think about ways to modernize and streamline process to be more efficient and use tech that already exists and they are dismissive of any suggestion.
Are people aware of the google extension Netflix party? ?!??!?!?!?

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone!
Oh msbelle, that's so frustrating. It was one of the things that bothered me when working with government. I never figured out an effective way to break that anti-change log jam.
