Catching up-
I am glad the colonoscopy went as well as can be expected.
I am sorry about your aunts, Scrappy.
Congratulations Maria!
We are (at work) all freaking out about odd things that don't really matter. One professor wants to know how she logs her hours if deployed and who is paying for it (She gets paid more as a nurse than a professor, and works for both the hospital and the SON). I am freaking out about how to get to work if they shut down public transit, since I can't work from home if I can't get to work.
Ugh yes that sucks, ND. I'm grateful my job is already done from home but feel bad for all the nurses and doctors I work with who work with cancer patients—so hard for the medical folks and even harder for the patients—don't have a lot of choice about coming to the hospital and they're immunosuppressed and can't wait.
Timelies all!
Congrats, Maria!
So the governor of MD has declared that bars, theaters, gyms and restaurants are to be closed starting tonight. The restaurants can still do take out and drive-through service, though I'm not sure about delivery. Sigh...
I went back and had missed NDs post. That sounds terrible
That reminds me, I don't think I have seen a post here or on Facebook from NoraDierdre lately. Has anyone heard from her?
I am home. My parental medical Fury Road trip to the hospital in St. Joe is DONE, Mom is now home for the next ?? weeks, and I think I just earned my first HAZMAT procedures certification: I went full zombie bite paranoid, and I regret NOTHING.
And now my adrenal glands can stop working overtime, yeah, kthx...
(Xpost with fb)
(Once I get settled, I will be able to respond to convos like a polite human. Hi y'all!! Hoo boy! Whew!)
Not a ton of questions came in today, but I had answers for only a few. Things in govt tend to move a glacial pace, so adjusting to so many changes from federal and state govt throughout the day in real time is just not what we are set up for.
Nora's been posting on FB and Twitter. They're in Austin now.
Aw, man, my mom is pretty bummed to be ordered to shelter in place. She was sounding much more chipper yesterday when she was basically doing the same thing but it was voluntary. My folks are 77 and 78, so I'm grateful they are taking this seriously but they are also used to being able to go out and go for walks pretty much every day
I've been thinking this week about social distancing, and how special this community is and how lucky I am to have a group of friends where physical distance has always been irrelevant.
Anyway I love you guys and I'm glad you're here.
A friend of my mom's wishes we were saying
physical
distancing, rather than social, because we can and should still be socially close! Just from a distance.
