'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'll need more lemonade and baking dairy-free margarine.

Alas, our three part-time Programs interns are "off" to the end of March, which means that work will be even more 'work' for me, but then I'm probably not going to have a whole lot of driving off-campus to even it up. Sure picked an 'interesting' time to work in assisted-living, all right.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

TCG and ltc are dealing with the "book avalanche" that is her bedroom. I cleaned out and reorganized the pantry. It turns out I do have enough food to survive the apocalypse.

Thrive to spite them

I talked to Dad today, he is taking this a little more seriously. Although he said he has food for "3 or 4 days" .....BUT he then reminded me he also as pantry supplies and TP etc at the beach so if he needs to he can go get them there. Or even stay there. he was trying to decide if that woudl be a good option. One the pro side it's more isolated . The down sides are no tv, no internet except for cell service and it's further from medical care if that is necessary.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Ohio is closing all bars and restaurants, starting tonight. They'll still be open for takeout and delivery (and they're encouraging that, since supplies at grocery stores are getting low), but absolutely no food served on-site.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

IL is doing the same starting tomorrow.

Thrive to spite them

SC just announced all the public schools will close. Four days ago this was not the case.

We haven't gotten to the point of restaurants closing. There are some new cases developing some from no known source of exposure and others that do. In greenville county a student who traveled to Spain tested positive and is in isolation.

The testing is so far behind. I assume it's spreading here and we just don't know about it. I keep waiting to find out someone who has worked at the mall has tested positive.

My parents told me that someone from their church sent an email saying that she wanted to attend service today but knew she shouldn't "because of the carnivores".

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

because of the carnivores

The food chain is a harsh mistress.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Welp, there goes New York.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

CA suggests that bars and wineries close, and that restaurants focus on takeout and delivery. I don't think it's an order as such. As far as I know I'm still going into the office tomorrow (it doesn't put me particularly at risk, we don't deal with the public or congregate in large groups, it's just kinda weird against the background of all the other closures)
