First - Happy ð… Day!
I haven't been to the grocery store. My son, who works at Walmart grocery, says he spends his whole shift answering questions about when they are going to get more XYZ. He doesn't know. They get deliveries every day, but deliveries are down so instead of stocking they have him wandering aisles doing customer service. Considering how much they get from China and other places apparently the distribution chain is drying up.
I may send TCG to our local bakery today since I didn't make it yesterday, but otherwise we're all set for a while. Otherwise, I usually have a well stocked pantry. I won't have anything delivered until we're out of dairy and our other perishables, but even if that isn't possible, we have enough beans and grains to last us for a while.
(((((Teppy))))) (And your friend, and his wife--what a day. What is wrong with this year?)
Teppy, tons of ~ma for your friend and his wife. I'm so sorry.
Yikes. All this is making me v worried about what I will eat when I get home from this vacation!! I have some food but ate a bunch of it down since I'd be out of town.
meara, I think it will be fine. when you get home, I'd look first at any small or locally owned grocery. Corner stores and even places like drug stores that have some food seem to be less wiped out. Also, getting take-out from places is not a bad idea for a while.
People on Twitter are also mentioning that their local Asian markets seem to have plenty of food left on the shelf because people are being racist about going there.
Reporting from the front lines: Aldi is a goddamn zoo.
~ma to your friends, Tep. Horrible news.
For PiDay I went to a friend's house. We were 8, there was lots of pie, no hugs and we kept at least a meter from one another at all times, and with the plague outside I feel like it's the wildest thing I've done or will be doing in a while.
Another wild thing - I was given permission to take boxes from the archives to appraise, weed out, and process at home from one of the not-important-collections. It means that the boxes will have to go through disinfection again once they're back, but still. Taking archival material out of the archives... it's a big thing.
