~ma to your friends, Tep. Horrible news.
For PiDay I went to a friend's house. We were 8, there was lots of pie, no hugs and we kept at least a meter from one another at all times, and with the plague outside I feel like it's the wildest thing I've done or will be doing in a while.
Another wild thing - I was given permission to take boxes from the archives to appraise, weed out, and process at home from one of the not-important-collections. It means that the boxes will have to go through disinfection again once they're back, but still. Taking archival material out of the archives... it's a big thing.
My local Publix just emailed that starting today they will close at 8 PM daily. To allow extra time to disinfect the store daily.
People on Twitter are also mentioning that their local Asian markets seem to have plenty of food left on the shelf because people are being racist about going there.
That is a good idea. I had already been thinking of going to the usually very well stocked Italian market just because it seemed less likely they would be hit like the chains. Hoping my favorite Indian grocery still has the yummy frozen meals. Of course really I will send my son or husband because I have zero desire to go shopping on a normal day.
Mostly I assume that the hoarders are all out this week and in a couple weeks it should be less insane for shopping.
Also separate post to send ~ma to Teppy's friends. That is just awful. May he have a swift and complete recovery.
Instead of going driving for Lyft, which I just can't risk because of where I work, I went grocery shopping for essentials for me -- just things like pasta, sugar, sudafed. I was able to get everything I wanted except for my favorite kind of bread and lemonade. The pasta aisle was decimated, and the meat department was in shambles, but they had guys restocking as I watched. The checkout said that it'd been insane-o for the past three days, and this was nothing compared to how it had been.
Swift respond to an aneurysm is vital to recovery. Lots of ~ma to your friends, Teppy. That is scary shit.
My brother is finally getting medicated in jail! I hope the lack of access to meth and the medication will help.
Cash, I hope the medication really helps your brother. I'm sorry for everything your family is going through.
aurelia, after you've had them all sterilize/wash everything reasonably reachable, how about spending some time doing a table read of the last play you had? (Social distance seating, 'natch.)
I'll only have two of my crew and possibly the sound op. I'll have them cleaning the lenses of lighting fixtures and aligning lamps. They'll have plenty of space to spread out. Luckily, I already have the cleaning supplies in stock. It would be funny to see their reactions if I told 3 white, male, non-actors to do a table read of School Girls or the African Mean Girls Play. To their credit, they'd probably be offended on behalf of the cast.

That's good news!
That is very good news, Cashmere! I know it takes some time for his system to fix, but hopefully he will stay confined until that happens.
Talked with one of my medical office managers. She is a wreck from the insantiy. Extremely short staffed between people out sick because they deal with sick people all day, and now short because of people stuck home until they figure out day care for their kids. Two of her doctors had to take sick days too. They treat too many elderly patients to bring kids to work. She told me she doesn't want to hear that I went out of the house. She said the kids will have to do that for me. I never have to worry with all the worriers doing it for me apparently.
She is 100% in agreement that canceling events and sports and so forth is perfectly sound and reasonable, but WTF with the toilet tissue hoarding!
I am LOLing about doing a table read with tech staff. I think costumes could maybe dour!
