Doesn't matter that we took him off that boat, Shepherd, it's the place he's going to live from now on.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Welp, my employer is about to have a reduction in power usage.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Iraq also has a pandemic and locusts right now.

I feel like this year's Passover services are going to need an updated list of plagues.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

aurelia, are Chicago theatres still open?

My assisted living is ramping up restrictions: we're only going to have two 'public' rooms where you can visit with friends and family, and no outside people coming for program events. Also no group trips -- I'll still be doing medical appointment runs, and shopping for residents, but probably the majority of my time will be as a third-string programs runner.

Our residents are SO damn vulnerable, old and frail. I'm very worried about them all.

Update from the hot zone*:

Schools are opening on a 2-hour delay tomorrow and closed Monday. (There was already a scheduled Superintendent's Day closure for Thursday, this supposedly replaces that but I feel like I'm in that joke and this is the equivalent of being told Grandma's on the roof.)

NYU classes are remote until the end of April.

All corporate employees are WFH until the end of March (yesterday it was just NY and Seattle).

*That's what we call Westchester now even though I'm miles away from New Rochelle and all the traffic goes in and out of the city not cross-county so I'm in no more actual danger than anywhere else outside the actual quarantine zone.

Thrive to spite them

It was super slow at work today. only some seniors and parents with kids. I didn't even do $800 in sales.

I have been freaking out about this bc I'm not commission and one sipervisor suggested I talk to the store manager. So I'm going to find him tomorrow and talk. I am not the only person on commission, obviously, but we are in the minority in the store (only certain depts and certain volume stores) but that have to have a plan.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I ordered coffee from Amazon, and Instacart Ed a bunch of stuff. A woman at work is bringing me TP from her stash!

All the non-work people I have interacted with seem supremely unbothered. Everyone at work is tense and preparing for the worst. We are all very focused right now on making sure our students can start attending classes online starting Monday, but if the hospital becomes over-run, we could end up working there.

Clinical sites are slowly announcing that no students will be allowed, which is pissing off students, but seriously, there is nothing I can do.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Chorus says concerts are definitely on. They say the audience can spread out. Which is true...I'm more concerned about the pack of us with open mouths, breathing on each other for 90 minutes.

Whee, retaliatory airstrikes in Iraq.
