So what do you do in that situation?? Do you have to make something up, or can you just scrub something from work?
I'm bringing a fact sheet I wrote at the lab job that explains complex scientific concepts, and I'm bringing a test I did for another job application.
I definitely wouldn't be able to do it with ltc in the house. She sees me on the phone and immediately becomes the most difficult, needy 4 year old ever.
Substitute Spare Cat for the kiddo -- but at least a cat I can lock out of the room with a clear conscience and the confidence she won't get into anything more than usually life-threatening.
But really, she hears me talking and immediately has to know What's Going On?
16 doors knocked. Only 3 answered. A lot of canvassing is just leaving literature.
Yeah, trying to lock ltc out of a room would just lead to much louder screaming and probably some destroying of property.

Getting on the phone with a toddler around is like sending up the Bat signal, but instead, you end up with a needy child.
Cold calling is hard at first, but at least for me got easier each time. I am door to door canvassing today and have put off starting to get some food. In Texas we always went out in pairs, but this is solo and I'm a little nervous, but I just need to go and get through the list. This is the highest % effective way to GOTV, so gotta do it.
I'm kind of wishing I'd canvassed instead, but my anxiety makes my ability to do that a crapshoot.
My echo chamber FB is clearly very pro warren with a few Bernie stans and one or two "my fave person dropped out so now I'm Biden" people. Somehow doesn't seem to be representative of who's voting though.
Calling MA voters today, I mostly got hangups and answering machines. I talked to two hardcore Bernie supporters, one hardcore Biden supporter who just wants to beat Trump (script or no, I can't get it up to argue with that); one Biden/Warren undecided, one Bloomberg hardcore (because she says it is all about money, and he's got the money to beat Trump, which is most important).
All of the Warren supporters I got through to seemed all in, and generally said their household was voting for her.
I've been doing it for almost 3 hours now, and I need to stop, at least for now.
I wonder if anyone has ever convinced a stranger with a phone call.
Thaat's amazing Cindy! I don't think I could ever do it.
I just finished watching the docuseries on the murder of Gabriel Fernandez, and it was rough. Probably one of the roughest documentaries I have ever seen, and I still think it didn't (or couldn't) go in depth enough on the family itself. The focus was admittedly on how he slipped through the cracks when there were clearly people reporting his abuse- the number of times police went out there means a neighbor, family member, or kid was calling, plus the teacher and the security guard. But also, how do you deal with a caseload of 300! I just have a lot of feelings about this.
Cindy - FWIW - in all the training I've done, they've stressed that it is not really about convincing, but about getting candidate name out to undecideds and motivating the supporters to get out and vote. So much of it is to increase voter turnout.
I finished my list, but with no real attempt at the last 7 on the list as they were apartments in a senior housing bldg with no real way to access.
I don't think I can watch the Gabriel Fernandez doc.
Cindy and msbelle get huge applause for GOTV. I don't really have phone fear, but I still hate cold calling.
KateP, I haven't seen an amyth update in a while.
