I am okay with thru. Frankly I would be fine with a universal decision to drop all of the ough(t) words. They are weird.
Thots would not be my preferred spelling for thoughts though. Thauts maybe.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Now I want to do this.
Through becomes thru. Rough becomes ruff. Dough becomes doe. Thought becomes thaut. Cough becomes cauph or I guess cauf. Though becomes tho. What am I missing?
You know, there used to be people protesting the National Spelling Bee ... they may still be protesting when it takes place. Their position was that by insisting on standardized spelling, kids with dyslexia or other learning issues were being disadvantaged.
They did fix plough and hiccough already! [link]
Cough becomes koff, which is often the phonetic rendering, anyway.

ION: One of my contacts seemed to be trying to escape from my eye, so since I happened to have a pair of glasses with me (I don't, usually) I decided to let it go (and take its otherwise compliant mate with it). This is the first time I've worn my glasses to work in I don't know how long. Apparently my vision has gotten A LOT worse. My single-vision glasses are messing me up both on the computer and trying to read papers on my desk. Gonna be a long afternoon. At least they're ok for driving home.
I fell down the Zillow-hole after Matt's post. This is in my town, and a really cool combination of old and new: [link]
We leave "ought" the way it is, just to mess with people. It's still English, we have a rep to uphold.
Timelies all!
Happy Birthday Beverly and Fiona's son!
Ugh. Got home to find Mr. S had clogged the toilet in his bathroom. Luckily Gary was able to unclog it, but it was nasty.
