The Oscars song for the movie Harriet was co-produced by a young man we knew when he was the 8 year old kid living 3 houses down from us in Durham. He graduated from Harvard in December; he's, like, 20.
(Overachiever. But at least he didn't win the Oscar.)
I was woken a half hour before my alarm this morning by my smoke alarm going off. I've investigated but can't find any evidence that it's anything but a false alarm. But I'm still taking an unscheduled vacation day to stay home and keep an eye on things. I feel like I'm probably overreacting a bit, it's a new alarm, and I have a super sensitive nose and can't smell anything. But I keep thinking that I'd rather overreact and be wrong than assume everything is okay, leave the house for 9 hours and be wrong.
I finished the section of embroidery I was working on at about 4:15 Sunday morning and I have what feels like a permanent dent in the callus on my index finger where the needle rests when I'm using it. As predicted, I have no urge to touch needle and thread again any time soon. But our next performance is St. Patrick's Day weekend, so expect a similar post from me again in about one month's time! Shir, I posted photos of my dress on FB then realized you're not on there! Oops.
Bless his heart, mac went to see his grandparents last night and again this morning as they head out to CA. I know it was hard for him, saying goodbyes hits a lot of hurt for him. I texted him that he makes me proud.
Aw, good job, mac!
Beethoven's Ninth yesterday was wonderful and I was all full of love for the brotherhood of man but today I am at work and everyone can just go to hell. Did you know the text for that, Schiller's poem, was a drinking song? It's "I love you man" raised to high art
Are they moving or just visiting, msbelle?
meara, they are moving also.
Oh yeah, that's got to be a lot for mac. Good for him.
And Epic, that sounds like a reasonable reaction -- I mean, better to over- than under-!
