In super light news - I just today figured out that I can get a side of oatmeal instead of fries at McDonald's (not as part of the combo (actually, maybe I will ask about that next time!)) and that works out pretty good. There may be no one else in the world who needs this particular life hack, but it's nice for me.
A parental miracle moment! As I drove my son to work earlier, because for at least the first 90 days I will make sure he gets there on time, he mentions 2 blocks from work that he has no money or food for his dinner break. Grumble grumble, last moment not happening. So I tell him I have to get to my nail appointment and will be done before his dinner break and will stop and get something for him at his store. Since he works at a grocery should be easy enough. So!!! When I arrive there at nearly 8 I see him strolling toward the door and think I have missed his dinner break. I call out to him and he walks over and says ... "I don't need dinner money; I got paid today." Seriously, I am joyful. It's been a long long time since he wasn't 100% dependent on me.
Yay for non-dependency!
I'm tired, today has been non-stop since 6:30am.
Laura, pass on my love to your DH. That's devastating.
So sad about your DH's friend, Laura. What a tragedy.
I'm so sorry, Laura, that's awful.
My condolences to Brendon, Laura. At least good news on the kiddo front may help cheer him up?
Six years after taking the duo in, I finally have a lap cat! I'm not sure what made Jackson decide that he could curl up in my lap when I'm sitting, but he's seemed comfortable doing so for the last week. And tonight Molly looked like she was considering it, standing on my chest with her front paws before settling down on the chair beside me.
In small world news, the mom of one of the HS kids DH coaches knew Sean online because they played dominoes. When DH told his team about his loss and how he was having an emotional day because of his HS basketball friend being murdered the parent knew the name. She said she only knew him online and was annoyed because he was late making his move, and that never happened. The internet makes the world a smaller place.
Sean was big on the online games like Dominoes, Spades, and Chess. He was a logic master who could solve a Rubik's cube with ease.
There was a small article in the Jamaican press about him this morning. [link] It was tough telling my sons last night. He was their "uncle" all their lives. The boys were predictable in response, the eldest crying like his dad, the younger internalizing like his mom.
That's so sweet about the dominoes!
