Oh guys, I am so upset for my poor husband. His best friend, who was the best man at our wedding, was shot and killed last night. He had moved to Jamaica after his father died. He was only going to be gone a month, but he ended up staying. He loved living in his fishing village and running his dad's convenience store. For years now I keep saying that we needed to go visit him, and we didn't find the time. Now he is gone. He came into his house after work and it was apparently being robbed and they shot him. DH is devastated. He almost called him last night because of basketball related stuff, and didn't. Now he wonders if he popped into mind at the same time.
oh no Laura - that is awful. Please give him all our love.
Drew - I am so sorry for the wave of memories and grief.
Oh, Laura, how awful. I'm so sad for B.
Oh, Laura. I'm so sorry.
His kids and most of his family are in Fort Lauderdale, but he lived with his mom in Jamaica. We don't know yet what plans are being made, but DH will go wherever. He was the first person he met when he moved to Fort Lauderdale when he was in high school. Sean walked up to DH and asked him if he played basketball. Then helped him get registered in school and became besties. They played together in HS and a number of men's leagues afterwards. He went to work for us before his dad died and he left for a calmer life in Jamaica.
Dude was supposed to call me for a meeting at 1PM. Sigh. I love sitting and waiting for people.
Any luck getting in touch with Mac, msbelle?
Or possibly it was that my husband was on the phone, jesus christ. Did the guy try to call yet? No idea.
Laura, please give DH my sincerest condolences.
Last night my long-time long distance friend's husband died after a long decline with Alzheimer's, essentially getting to the point where he no longer remembered to breathe. Death was more of a release from suffering there than a sudden tragedy.
