This is my boat. They're part of my crew. No one's getting left. Best you get used to that.

Herding cats for fun

Oh crap.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I made up for the mid-week holiday by working 8am-7pm, with lunch at my desk. It's a glamorous life.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, y'all, I have nothing to do at work today! I'm going to try to find someone to have lunch with, at least...

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Who cares about the human cost it will make a lot of people RICH.

Doesn't look like the stock market believes that this morning.

Me neither, and I'm WFH today, so basically I'm on vacation. I had one meeting at 9:30 and that was it.

I am...a little nervous about leaving the country in four days.

Where are you going, Jessica?

I also do not want to do any work today, but need to seem at least a tiny bit productive.

I'm going to Cuba for a two-week study abroad class in nutrition and agriculture. I'm not sure what war with Iran would mean in terms of travel between Cuba and the US (possibly nothing!) but I'd really rather not find out.

Oh yeah, that's a little different than going to Canada or something. Probably still fine but yikes. Plus you don't want to worry it'll be like, canceled halfway through or something.

Our wings are not tired.

I feel like I just woke to the Iraq invasion all over again. Getting rid of a bad guy with no thought whatsoever to the big picture or any competent cohesive regional policy. It is part stunt to distract from Impeachment, part 'make me look like a tough guy' reelection strategy, part knee jerk reaction to the Baghdad embassy issues. It is just very depressing and worrying. We'll see what he says tonight in Miami.

Meanwhile we are stuck with him in Florida. Many of you know what a pain it is when the president is in town. Little stuff like my son and DIL went to a hot air balloon event at the polo club in Palm Beach county, but they had to stay grounded because his orangeness is in town.

Oh yeah, I'd be a little anxious too, Jess. I do think everything will be fine, though.
