'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

The new bad ongoing suck: my car battery was dead this morning, got a jump start drove 15 minutes to work. Came out battery dead again. Called around to a couple places realized I didn't have enough on my credit card to buy a battery tonight so said screw it and took a Lyft home. I'll get cash money out of the bank tomorrow to pay.

But in good news -- while waiting around for the jump start, I got through to the NJ Vital Records office, who assured me that I can delegate a *relative* to come and in-person acquire my birth certificate. And she was able to send me the Delegation of Authority form that I need to get notarized -- and emailing a scan to said relative is OK.

So now I just have to find a relative who has the free time -- could it be the nephew who is working Door Dash and would probably jump at the chance to make a nice amount of money driving 1/3 of the way across NJ to get my birth certificate? Stay tuned!

Woo, delegate that authority, Theodosia!

I had a migraine with aura last night, which was... fun? I thought it was the Christmas lights for a while. I'm glad it waited until I was almost at the end of my On Call shift.

I'm close to finishing my holiday shopping, so at least there's that.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Delegation of Authority sounds so fancy! Go Theo!

I have managed, in my confusion, to do work that did not need doing and should not have been done, but it should cost the company less than $40 so probably no one will care very much. I'm taking it as a sign to stop working for a bit. Managed to get my laundry into the washer, though, which absolutely needed to happen. And soon my black-eyed peas and buffalo turkey will be done cooking and ready to eat.

I hope the past tense on the migraine is definitive, shrift! And the being on call.

Thank goodness for the Kaiser advice line, I'm getting steroids for my poison oak infection. So gross and itchy.

Currently waiting at the DMV to get my Real ID...

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

The people decorating my office have gone a bit overboard - tree, lights, all kinds of decorations. And the wall of the conference room decorated to look like a gingerbread house ... it probably says something about me that I had the thought that, if it's a gingerbread house, is there an oven inside for Hansel and Gretel?

Seems like the natural conclusion, Todd.

Yay steroids, Consuela. Did you know poison oak loses its leaves earlier in the year because it would rather put its energy into making poison that leaves? Because of being eaten by Giant Sloths. Or so I learned on my last scorpion walk. By which I mean, I hope you get a lot of relief immediately.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

My replacement birth certificate came, so that's done.

The admissions/registrars office for Mac's community college stuff is closed for winter break - nothing on the website about that, so that was a bust at 8:15 this morning.

But we did get the car, at the second dealership we went to, so there's that.

I had therapy and mac tried to go to the PO and get his mail key, but LINES - so another day.

Then I met up with a guy from FB marketplace and sold my 30 year old speakers - and mac went back to his apt with another small box of stuff.

I take him to therapy tomorrow, and will have 1-2 bags of laundry for him. That will be most of the stuff out of that room.

I got my holiday cards today that I ordered! And then I did my list of people whose addresses I have and realized I should've ordered a lot more. Oops.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I got my holiday cards today that I ordered! And then I did my list of people whose addresses I have and realized I should've ordered a lot more.

I do that every year, or else I do the reverse and order 15-20 more than I actually need.

It's a snow day here, except it's not snow, it's freezing rain, which is less pretty and way more treacherous for driving. Fortunately our awesome sitter volunteered to come early today so I can go into work after lunch.
