That is great for Mac. I think you are setting him up for success.
I am saying this to relate, not to make it all about me! But I had a less competent parenting situation and I was really good at adulting from 13-25, because I had to be. And then I failed because I didn't see a competent adult.
I think it is better for the failures to come now.
Actual emojis should work fine here too. On Windows 10 you can get a menu of them with windows-period. On Macs, it is cmd-ctrl-space.

Hah! I just did try the windows-period, and it took like 20 seconds before anything happened. (Luckily I am easily distractible at this time in the morning.)
I almost never use emojis.
Oh, Gris! On my phone but may have to play later. I've always appreciated that we use our words here, but there are times when 100% or kisses would be nice accoutrements.
Oh wow. I am dumb.
I always find it funny that my coworkers think I am some sort of computer genius, but mostly I am just willing to try a bunch of different things until something's works, or I google.

If your phone has an emoji keyboard that works anywhere (most do these days) then that works here too. That's how I added my emojis above.
Emojis on b.org is freaking me out a little
OTOH 💖

I think about 99% of being "good with computers" is just a willingness to try shit without worrying that something will break. (And once you've done that enough, you get a feel for "well that setting's usually under this menu" and then you look like a wizard for guessing correctly on the first try.)
