Saffron: But we've been wed. Aren't we to become one flesh? Mal: Well, no, uh... We're still two fleshes here, and I think that your flesh ought to sleep somewhere else.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

All ~mas, especially to Plei and sj and amyparker (and whoever else I missed by skipping and skimming).

Coding and Sleeping

So my office is going to move pretty soon and there is a holiday party the day before. I have started a secret campaign to try to put together a "spontaneous" rendition of 'One Day More' (cut down to simplify and shorten it a bit). Don't know if I can pull it off, but I have a Valjean so far.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Plea, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Plei, I'm so sorry.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

My condolences, Plei.

Mom's plan is to have her ashes combined with Dad's, then I'm to scatter them over the family plot (in a lovely smalltown graveyard with oak trees and a gentle hillside leading down to a meadow) and somewhere up in the Ozarks where they had their honeymoon. I may end up dodging authorities to do it, but it'll be like having one last adventure with them.

Our wings are not tired

The ashes for both of my parents are in urns, and I'm assuming still sitting on a shelf at their old house which my sister now has. I do not expect to see those ashes every again unfortunately.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Every time I think, "oh man, I really have to get cracking on that work I'm supposed to get done today...." it's almost time for another meeting! Good news/bad news.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Does anyone have knowledge on how to start freelancing?

Zenkitty - don't forget about the consequences to your income tax preparation. Most freelancers receive a form 1099-MISC. Will your employer be withholding any taxes for you? Will you be filing a Schedule C? Will you be able to claim any expenses?

I cannot offer tax advice, but I can point you toward some resources. Profile address is good.
