Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Not only is his mom extremely cold natured but she hates wearing layers of clothes and would prefer to just "strip down to nothing but my skin"

That is a ridiculous position for someone to take when they are living with other people! I mean, it seems wasteful and expensive to me in any circumstances, but people can live their own lives if it's not affecting anyone else. But this is!

Punishingly Intricate

Yeah, that would make me crazy, askye.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Askye, that is ridiculous!

Sophia, good luck getting a new lock soon.

Debet, I'm not at all surprised that you were also a Gargoyles fan. Friday is acting like a Monday. So, I'm watching more now.

One of the characters had an old school shoebox cellphone with a cord. Aka my first cellphone when I started driving for emergencies only. I am old.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

sj, what the super-Shakespearian cartoon with more Trek actors than you can shake a stick at? Why would you think that was my jam? Sadly, we're several years away from Samlet being able to watch it, and if the glory light box is illuminated, he just STARES at it.

I have quite a bit of work to do, and then I'm watching the gumball this afternoon, so DH can accomplish some baby-unfriendly stuff.

Askye, as someone whose climate control consists of Windows and fans, that's some bullshirt, and I'm a little shocked that she's made it that far into adulthood thinking that's okay behavior. Although both my grandmother and great-grandnmother were cold in anything under about 85 degrees. Visiting was always super fun, as was taking them to a public place where they were always complaining about being cold.

eta: JFC, "glowy" light box. dammit, autocorrect

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Debet, I have to ask - what version of Windows do you have? I've never found one that helped with temperature (snerk).

Debet, I think it is too violent for ltc still, but she is at school. Francesca used to ignore the TV unless there was music playing. Any music at all and she was transfixed until it stopped. We started watching Daniel Tiger and Sesame Street when she was about 18 months old because I really needed the break. And I often had cooking shows on in the background which she loves now. Lately she has been choosing a different show on Netflix every day. She loves being able to choose by the picture.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

askye, is Matthew up to having a word with his mother? I don't know where your winter conditions are like, but I could see the utilities bill becoming a source of arguments very quickly.

10.30 last night, I'd told Jim good night and was in bed when click! Look out the window - okay, Grow's in the dark except for the emergency lights on the stairs, but there are lights on across the harbor, so it's not the whole island. Text comes in from the city: some poor soul has hit a pole, lines are down, PSE's on their way. I report an outage with the phone app - whoa, at least 5000 customers out, including the ferry terminal, and the boat from Seattle is due in about 20 minutes. Hoo boy. There are emergency generators, but it's dark outside of town under normal conditions . . . .

Jim has also received the text and is not asleep yet (he is currently napping on the plane from Nashville); he logs in to the system at home and shuts it down properly, messages me to make sure I'm all right, and we both turn in.

I had points, I think they were "Interconnectedness yay!" and "I am a lot more relaxed about outages than I was three years ago."

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Wow. That is amazing Amy.

The landlord is going over to see what happened. And put in a new lock. And leave me keys again.

There is an inspection date of November 21, which is next Thursday! I am still a little nervous about passing, but there are no fire hazards any more. My therapist told me that they don't care about the little things and will be so amazed by the change, and that they don't really, like, look in my closets or care about cat toys, which I know is logically true.

But that means I can have a nice Thanksgiving without worry about it.

Sophia, you have done an amazing job! If it's going to ease the nervousness, concentrate on maintaining what you've done rather than starting a new project.
