Cindy, I can't even imagine your anger and rage at this point. I am so sorry you all had to go through this. And yes, someone absolutely should be hold accountable for this.
As for dealing with anger and emotions, I found that regular exercise and having a friend that owns a free standing punching bag help me. But I guess that therapy should also be a part of it.
Back in my woods, I am trying to get used to some break time with all of the holidays. After spending the last three months working and studying in 120-150% capacity, it's hard to adjust and I am feeling the consequences of these three months (a summer semester, three finals - one I had to retake twice, searching and moving apartments, working, and being sick for a week of all of this fun). And if my last final went well, I'm returning to about 110% of stress with grad school in two weeks. So, not fun.
Syria and the Kurds are also on my mind. As Israel didn't have a functioning government for most of 2019, I'm not sure where I stand on military intervention - I fear that will only result in a disaster. I know there's some measure of humanitarian help, I donated food and clothing and sanitary products to refugee camps in the past and a lot of wounded are being treated in hospitals in Northern Israel, but it hardly feels enough.
Cindy, I'm so very sorry you all had to go through that -- especially so close to the victory line and it nearly could have killed him. It SHOULD have set off alarms in the pharmacy and beyond.
Also, the nurse might be used to having to correct mistaken memory about dosing, but when the family member who has been the primary stakeholder in medical matters for the past couple of months says its wrong, you need to more politely consider that she has some very informed knowledge as to the protocol and take it seriously, instead of what sounds to me like a brushoff.
At any rate, I hope you find the calm center emotionally so that you can kick ass effectively this week. Could be that you'll be following in the surgeon's boot prints in each of the respective medical asses, but it's important that relevant parties get the message underlined.
Oh Cindy, I am just welled up with so much reading this. How many times do these errors result in catastrophe with no one advocating for the patient? Sending all my positive healing thoughts in your direction.
Cindy, that's terrifying. Sending so many healing vibes. I don't know if I would have the spoons to be enraged at the moment, either, but I'd definitely be saving it up.
Oh god, Cindy, how awful and scary! I hope he keeps recovering well.
For my part, I am taking the day to recover from the brass band festival, which was amazing. I sort of wish I were joining people in Providence today for one more festival, but I really need the time!
Holy SHIT Cindy, that is beyond unacceptable.
So I guess it is no longer the weekend, and I'm expected to work again. This is a very worrying trend.
Traffic was so great today, though -- I mean, I walked, but then I drove a couple trips through Cambridge, so I got the benefit of a kinda-holiday. I took one resident to get a flu shot (she was out the day they had in-house inoculation) at CVS, and then another two of them on a shopping trip to Star Market, so it was a low-stress 'off' day.
Tomorrow I drive a busload to see foliage. I may just head towards New Hampshire until someone stops me...
